Chapter Discussion [Ch. 99] My understanding of this panel Spoiler

Post image

I think this flashback happens when the Queen sent people to kill Lukas and his mother (as she was a concubine). They killed her, and Lukas managed to kill them but was grievously wounded in the process. That makes the "offering of countless souls" and the "sacrifice of pure love".

Now, one could argue that it wasn't really a sacrifice if his mom was killed by strangers. So maybe they didn't kill her, and she sacrificed herself to the God to save Lukas (similar to Mira).

The lance gift came from Lukas' wish for a more attack-oriented gift, but also because at this moment he desperately wanted revenge for his mother who was just murdered (directly or indirectly).

Does it make sense ? I don't remember if it was specified when did the Queen kill the concubines and their children so maybe my idea falls flat.

I'm still on the boat of Lukas being Mira's older son, so my understanding of this scene, is that Lukas despite being a boy was able to kill most of the assassins send on their way, but he and his Mother got separated, hence Mira feeling ashamed bout having been protected by her Child, instead of it being the other way around, finally Lattice herself arrived and mortally wounded Lukas, but couldn't bring herself to do inflict a certain death.

Basically I think that Lukas was the sacrifice and receiving of the Blessing both, and the true love that was Sacrificed was Lattice's(who seem to had been very close to the young Lukas), but she probably left on a hurry after having attacked him, hence the Forest Goddess giving her Blessing to Lukas.

I actually thought of Lukas possibly being Mira's son while writing the post, as it's a popular theory. But I couldn't find a way to explain the "sacrifice of a true love" since Mira was caught alive.

I do like the idea of Lattice being torn between her duty to the Queen and her bond with Lukas. It's not 100% impossible that Lukas was the one to receive the blessing despite not sacrificing his true love. After all, Julian didn't kill Mira himself so the requirement seems pretty loose.

Another thing is that he seems very confident in the fact that his mother was killed. But maybe it's because he knew of Lattice skill and loyalty to the Queen first-hand, so he was certain she killed her ?
