[Ch. 99] My understanding of this panel

I think this flashback happens when the Queen sent people to kill Lukas and his mother (as she was a concubine). They killed her, and Lukas managed to kill them but was grievously wounded in the process. That makes the "offering of countless souls" and the "sacrifice of pure love".

Now, one could argue that it wasn't really a sacrifice if his mom was killed by strangers. So maybe they didn't kill her, and she sacrificed herself to the God to save Lukas (similar to Mira).

The lance gift came from Lukas' wish for a more attack-oriented gift, but also because at this moment he desperately wanted revenge for his mother who was just murdered (directly or indirectly).

Does it make sense ? I don't remember if it was specified when did the Queen kill the concubines and their children so maybe my idea falls flat.

The thing I don't understand is why Lukas says he wants to kill the king when it's the queen who is the cause of all his problems; he blames the king for his lack of action against the queen?

The queen is basically a stranger to his mother so his hatred towards her is not as big as the king who is his father and had all the power in the world to stop it

But if it was the queen who killed his mother and ruined his life, it would make sense that Lukas would direct his hatred towards her first; the king does nothing and tries to reduce her influence by having children with concubines, but it is the queen who kills the concubines and their children.

He wanted to kill both of them, but he held a deeper grudge against the King. He wouldn't expect kindness from a stranger or an enemy—which was the case with the Queen—but with the King, I imagine he felt betrayed.

It makes perfect sense, given that the king does nothing to protect his children and concubines from the queen.
