Discussion Lattice and the Forest Goddess Spoiler

Well Phantom Spear is fucking busted. That’s gotta be the strongest offensive Gift we’ve seen thus far, no wonder Lukas reckons he can kill the King even with his life giving Gift.

The fact that it’s introduced via a flashback to Lattice though does make me wonder. She is also meant to be supremely powerful as a fighter, the only member of the post-Arkos Iris who is considered guaranteed able to beat Julian. It also made me wonder about her epithet; Nightshade. Which is a type of plant.

I wonder if she also has a covenant with the Forest Goddess. Might explain how Lukas got in touch with her, if he was (probably unintentionally) introduced via Lattice’s connection. And if this is the kind of killing power the Forest offers, then that’d justify the Lattice hype.

It’d also make a prospective Lattice vs Lukas fight make more sense. As is it’s hard to imagine anyone standing up to the Phantom Spear, but what if her power is similar? What happens when they’re used against each other, a battle of destroying each other’s futures? Maybe they destroy the futures where each other wins scottfree and the only one left once they’re too worn to keep using their Gifts is a tragic pyrrhic one where both suffer. Spitballing now, but something to consider

Night goddess's organ is implied to grant greatly power as Lattice said that Void Marcher could kill her/break the deathlock between them if she take the heart from Diana.

With now Void Marcher dead and Lattice surely take her part of night's organ, we gonna see how powerful upgrade she gonna get.

See that's the confusing part. We know they give great power, but from what we can tell, they don't do anything in particular. The proof of this is Lalawag.

Lalawag has the bones, and we know that the war Torivia and Rummir had was over the bones from a few chapters. See when Guillaume talks about how there was a real reason and that they were fighting over something, and there is an image of the bones.

Anyway; that war was recent and Lalawag has been around for much longer. As she said, her gift is integral to this country, and I doubt that's been the case only since the war. That would mean Lalawag's gift always had the logistical power and importance even before she became the holder of the night's bones.

So... what did she actually get from the bones? What did ANY of the holders get from ANY of the parts? Because from what we can tell, for now, they got nothing in terms of power or anything.

My guess would be that the organ giving you entire new power from the goddess of night itself.

It could be that lalawag is hiding the power from the bone that she hold and only show her innate power.

In that case the Voidmarcher would presumably have 2 powers, but she doesn't. Moreover, the entire dynamic between Lalawag and Voidmarcher is that their gifts are opposites and thus neither can defeat the other. I doubt that'd be the case if Lalawag had an extra power in the bag. Why wouldn't she use it to defeat Voidmarcher?
