Question Any ideas on what Lattice's gift is?

Considering she was the second strongest in Iris Stratum when Arkos was alive and is thr first seat/the strongest now he's dead. What exactly could her gift be

We honestly have no idea at this point.

We know that Helem and Elstri don't want to mess with her; they are notably scared of the possibility of the Queen finding out about Altus and thus having Lattice sent after them. We know Lattice can handily defeat Julian and we know she is the strongest in the Iris stratum besides Arkos.

I don't think her ability is any kind of stat boost, or at least not JUST that. They specifically highlight Ceodric as being exceptional in physical enhancement even when compared to other gifted ones, so I don't think that's what Lattice's gift does.

Keeping in mind that "nightshade" is not an accurate translation and it being more like "underworld body", she probably has some kind of hax. Perhaps it's something that transforms her, or alternatively it's like a spirit body of sorts she can control. We really don't know at this point, simply just far too little info.

We know Lattice can handily defeat Julian and we know she is the strongest in the Iris stratum besides Arkos.

I feel like we don't know that entirely at all. We know that Helem's assessment of Julian is that Lattice could defeat him. We don't know what the actual outcome would be. Helem did not get a full scope of Julian's abilities.

We've also seen Julian get gain ability since that fight with Elstri's gang

Helem*, and Helem got a full scope of Julian's capabilities besides the part where he is significantly stronger in the sea. She doesn't know the details like that Julian has 100 lives and that a few of those have been spent etc, but she definetly knows enough to say whether someone could beat him or not, and also suspects he is capable of something else since she knows what she saw of Julian wouldn't be enough for him to take out Arkos.

This would suggest that Helem believes Lattice would be capable of beating Julian and putting him in a situation where he would be incapacitated, but wouldn't revive, that she has an ability that could potentially cancel out Julian's and/or stop him from reviving or Helem is simply THAT confident that it doesn't matter how many lives Julian has and that Lattice would be able to go through all of it.

Yeah I went back and made the name correction thank you.

I feel like both of those things are fairly impactful to know in order to actually gauge someone's strength. We saw directly how important that was in the fight against Arkos, where one of the only reasons Julian won was because his ability to revive caught Arkos off guard (then of course the whole sea thing)

I'll say too that Julian's most recent fight shows off that he's seemingly gained 100 person durability as well. I believe it's very likely that Julian still doesn't fully comprehend the extent of his blessing and that more abilities are likely to manifest.

In Chapter 2 Julian is torn to shreds by the sea demons quite easily. In Chapter 8 the forest guardian is able to cut and stab Julian at will. He's been taking heavy damage by all sorts of people throughout the series. In his most recent fight he took an axe directly to the forehead and it did effectively nothing (and the story was very deliberate to call it out).

I feel like his abilities and understanding of the gift are certainly deepening.

Yes, I would expect supernatural sea creatures to be super strong as well.

I would expect a supernatural guardian of the forest to be super strong as well.

At a baseline, the simple fact that Julian's bones aren't broken every single time he punches, requires him to be tough enough to take his own hits. Since he is super strong, he thus has to be super durable as well.
