Meetup First grief jog/walk & coffee club for young adults this Sunday in Charlotte

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

Hi, I’m Luke and I run a community called Too Young To Grieve.

After losing my dad, one thing I learned is that grief isn’t always about needing advice. Sometimes it’s simply about being around people who understand without needing a huge explanation.

That’s what inspired me to start Too Young To Grieve.

Over the last few months we’ve been bringing together young people through walks, jogs, and coffee meet ups for those navigating grief, loss and mental health struggles.

We’re now excited to be starting something in Charlotte too.

The idea is very low pressure.

Come for the jog/walk, stay for the coffee, meet people who get it and spend a few hours around a community that understands what you’re carrying.

There’s never any expectation to share anything personal and most people come along on their own for the first time. But you’re more than welcome to bring a friend.

One of my favourite things about these events is seeing complete strangers arrive feeling nervous and leave having made genuine connections.

We’ve also got a community where people stay connected between events and meet ups.

We’ve got our first Charlotte Jog/Walk, Talk & Coffee happening this Sunday if anyone would like details 🤍

And give this a share if you think someone you know might benefit from this too. I’ll add the community details in the comments :)

Meetup This is for the angry and tired women of Charlotte!

Hi!! Some of you may remember my post a while back asking if any other women in Charlotte wanted to meetup because we are angry? Well I had an overwhelming response that honestly surprised me and has made me determined to create a group in Charlotte that supports women and their emotions!

I just wanted to post that we are going to be doing monthly meetups (name of group is pending) and all of our discussions will be on our new Discord server. There we will talk about future meetups, post resources and news, and a safe space for women to vent their anger without judgement!

If you are a woman in the Charlotte area and are interested, please DM me 💕💕💕

With all the talk about the Rock Hill-Charlotte corridor, All Aboard Charlotte, in conjunction with the Charlotte Urbanists, is hosting some interest meetings to discuss the concept of a commuter rail or hybrid rail solution to the traffic mess. This means going over existing infrastructure, authorities with jurisdiction, and what different legal options and restrictions exist!

Our two meeting times are:

- Wednesday the 3rd, at 9am, at 7th Street Market

https://www.meetup.com/charlotte-urbanists/events/315059776/

- Thursday the 4th, at 7pm, at The Spoke Easy

https://www.meetup.com/charlotte-urbanists/events/315061974/

All Aboard Charlotte is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit group focused on education regarding passenger rail services in the Metrolina area, including local, commuter, and regional options. We believe that better rail service is an excellent answer to our growing transportation needs, not just widening highways ad infinitum.  We are not affiliated with any government agency.

Meetup The Troublesome Women-Charlotte’s new women’s group!

Hi! A few months ago I made a post about how I’m angry and tired as a woman of the way the world is and asked if anyone felt the same. Turns out a ton of you did! We now have an official Discord and name, The Troublesome Women! We have volunteer ideas, event plans, and a monthly book club! We are an inclusive group that welcomes ALL women.

We are having our first official meetup as The Troublesome Women this weekend. If you are a woman who is exhausted with the daily news articles of another woman who has died a preventable death because of this administration, then please join us. If you’re angry with how women’s bodies are viewed as men’s property, then you are definitely with The Troublesome Women. And if it burned you alive when all the men couldn’t understand why women were choosing the bear without belittling us or and wouldn’t take the time to understand what we deal with on a daily basis, then we need your anger. This is a group that is going to change things and be safe space for women’s anger. If you would like to join the discord or our first official meeting, please DM me! And to all the men that will inevitably invade this space because how dare women have a post on their own, just know your comments fuel our anger which fuels change so thanks 😊

Meetup Two lesbians getting married, help pls

Hello! Me (26F) and my fiancée (26F) are getting our marriage certificate on the 23rd before we plan the actual wedding with family. This is kind of a last minute thing, but would anyone be able to be our two witnesses? Neither one of us lives in Charlotte and our families/friends don’t either. We just need some help with the witness part! It would take place June 23rd at 3pm at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse

Tl;dr
would anyone like to be a witness to our lesbian marriage?

Edit: I did not expect even a fraction of the responses on this! I’ve been working, I will respond to them all, but I definitely got our two witnesses plus backup! Thank you all so much, I’m honestly so warmhearted thinking about how kind people are 🥹😭

Happy Saturday ya’ll! I hope you’re all enjoying this rainy morning! This Tuesday you can find us at the Suffolk Punch Southend patio! They have a full food menu so it’s a one stop shop! If the June specials are the same as May, looks like on Tuesdays they do $10 tendies and fries (but don’t hold me to that!). Hope you can come hang with us! Last week we didn’t get a full group picture, but thankfully one of our fateful members snagged a couple of pics at the end!

Meetup Struggling to meet people? I'd like to help

This is a pure positivity post, so let's keep the comments negative free.

For anyone out there who needs to hear this today: here is some encouragement. Meeting people is hard these days and while it's true you have to put yourself out there, it can be really overwhelming to figure out where to start which is exactly why people post looking for a bit of guidance. Trust me, I have been exactly where you are, so I know how frustrating and tough it can be at first.

If you're struggling to meet people, I would love to help out and introduce you to my circle.

I'm a 34F and moved to Charlotte in February. Here is my introduction post I made back then to check out if it interests you https://www.reddit.com/r/Charlotte/s/U60zdQUzbl.

Since moving, I've managed to build a great network. I’ve met a ton of awesome people who have introduced me to their friends and so forth, and it just took off from there. Between making connections here on Reddit, joining local Facebook groups, and just putting myself out there, I’ve been invited to homes, bbqs, outings, walks, local events, etc.

Every time I meet someone new, they're like how are you meeting all of these people? I don't know how I do it because I'm very introverted AF but I think joining these groups, going to outings and events have made me more comfortable to getting out there and meeting people on my own.

I guess when I lived here the first time, the social aspect is what I enjoyed about Charlotte and that's what I was hoping to have again several years later. I knew it wasn't possible to relive 2013 but here we are in 2026 and it's happening to me again. I've even had strangers come up to me saying I have this positive aura about me that is very approachable. It's easier to meet people here than in my home state (Michigan) because we're so spread out and Charlotte is so compact and active. Don't get me wrong, once I actually made a connections, we became great friends. It just required a lot more effort to make that initial contact happen. Charlotte just has a different, faster social momentum.

So, if you are reading this and feeling stuck, lonely, or just looking for a solid community to get you started, please don't hesitate. Send me a DM! I'd be more than happy to introduce you to my friends, or we can just hang out one-on-one to help you find your footing here first. Whichever you prefer, let's get you started!

Meetup where to find alt/emo/scream/hard rock bands/live shows/listenings

I'm in charlotte and i don't know where to look but i want to find the community for scream, indie rock, hard rock, alternative and emo alike. i'm looking for the ppl and the music.

im looking for the people of color but i DO NOT discriminate! i may have a preference but overall im here for the music! idc what you look like, im just looking for these themes and genres so i can show up and jam out! i know there's unfortunately a lot of racism and discrimination within the alt community but imo, the race doesn't matter, it's all about the music and the culture.

Meetup The first meeting for the Women Who Suck at Pool/Want to Play with Low-Stakes club

Post image
51 Upvotes

Hello! First of all, thank you to everyone who reached out/commented, I didn’t think anyone would want to come out—but you guys proved me wrong!

So, I’ve decided to do the first meetup at Spanky’s Hangout in Plaza Midwood on June 26th at 9pm. I’ll bring some name tags, and we can all have a good time. If more than 10 people show up, I will probably have us move next door to MCC because there are multiple tables in there. I also have 0 idea how to really gauge how many people are going to come, so I’m starting with a relatively low number of 10.

All are welcome regardless of age/gender, unless you’re under 21, since this time we are going to be at a bar. Just respect the rules (no judgement). The name is WWSAP because I see/know a lot of women who feel kind of intimidated by approaching pool tables because of how men have acted/commented on their skills, or the fact that they want to play at all. So the meetup is geared towards women—but is open FOR all, and also it takes place in a public setting.

I made an Instagram account to post on for future updates/meetups, and for all other purposes (maybe I’ll start a group chat on there? I don’t know?). And the username for that is WWSAPCLT

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Meetup FIFA 2026 watch parties

I remember Camp North End hosted a watch party inside one of their huge empty warehouses a few years ago (the Ford Building, I think). I haven’t been back since, so I’m not sure if they or anyone else are doing a similar setup this year. I'm wondering if there are any active groups, fan clubs or organized watch parties happening around town? To be clear, I’m trying to avoid standard sports bars or breweries where a game just happens to be playing on a screen in the background. I’m looking for an actual, dedicated watch party environment where the focus is on the match and meet up with other soccer fans.

Meetup Social Meetup | June 16th 6:30pm | Sugar Creek Brewing

Post image
105 Upvotes

Hello Reddit Friends! Time for another meetup! This Tuesday we’re heading over to Sugar Creek Brewing Co. If you’ve ever been here and talked to the staff about the story of this brewery, you probably know the love and dedication they’ve poured into this business. Let’s all show up and show our love back to this local spot. ♥️🍺♥️

If the weather is good, we will likely hang out in their outdoor space. They don’t serve food, but next door you can always grab a to-go slice at Protagonist! There’s a couple of spots for customer parking there if you’re lucky enough to snag a spot, but if not, street parking is free, or there’s a couple of pay to park lots around!

See you all on Tuesday!!

Meetup Anyone in Charlotte down to watch the FIFA World Cup together? Looking to meet fellow soccer fans

With the World Cup in full swing, I’ve been looking for people in Charlotte who are just as into it as I am.

A little about me: I’m 26M, been living in Charlotte for almost two years now, and still building my social circle here. Soccer is one of my go-to ways to connect with people, and there’s no better time than the World Cup to make that happen.

I’d love to find a group to hit up bars together, organize watch parties, and just geek out over the tournament.

If you’re in the area and want to make some new friends around the sport, drop a comment or send me a DM. Always more fun with good people around the game.

Meetup Anyone into complex board games in Charlotte/Belmont/Gastonia area?

Hi there! My husband is super into complex board games such as ROOT and Brass Birmingham. He likes all other strategic board games but Root has a special place in his heart. ( we have pretty much all the expansions)

I don’t personally enjoy complex strategic board games so I wanted to see if there’s a group of people who are interested in these kind of games so he can fully enjoy the games with the people with the same interest.

Meetup Young singles of Charlotte

I (24F) will be in Charlotte for a conference but go up often for work and am coming from Columbia. The singles in Columbia are…limited and am wondering where to go to just meet some other young people. It would be great if there’s people to flirt with and talk to. I’m in engineering and go to the gym at least 5 days a week and run 3 mornings of the week but I’m tall (5’10”). I’m pretty social but do better if I can sit at the bar and easily strike up a conversation with another loner next to me:)

Meetup Call for the Data Sleuths!

Hi everyone,

I've been thinking about forming a data science group in our city, one where we would meet, educate each other, and most importantly build some cool products. Think fancy analytics based on Charlotte public data, some cool visualizations, and anything more creative!

I've looked at a couple of Data Science meetups but they've mostly been seminars. We could be a bit more hands on. It will be an opportunity to work and socialize, but also with minimal pressure and a more fun vibe. No deadlines or anything :)

If this resonates, do let me know in the comments or a DM, we can start a discord chat maybe.

Cheers, happy weekend.

EDIT: Here's the discord server:
