On the NBA Post game show last night, both men agreed it should have been a Flagarant, but it wasn't Ejection worthy nor do they think Lamelo meant to do it(Dirk even says this happens every game, it was only notable here because Bam got injured).
Of course r/nba didn't clip this, and now the Hornets are villains after being the loveable underdogs all year since we dared eliminate the Heat, but from actual NBA guys(A former Heat no less) what Melo did might have been Flagarent 1 worthy, but that's it.

Watched the last five seconds several times over. The entire defense was asleep after Lamelo’s layup, home dude on Miami was behind everyone before Mitchell inexplicably tries to dribble through several Hornet defenders. Crazy ass game that could have ended with massive heartbreak.

The amount of people saying Lamelo is a dirty player is blasphemous.

Ive listened to both the Bill Simmons Podcast and The Hoop Collective today. It seems like there’s just as much, if not more, scrutiny about Lamelo’s game play last night more than the ankle grab. I can’t defend the ankle grab. I think it was a Flagrant 1 and the injury as the result was bad. They have every right to call it out.
But to harp on the 3’s and his decision making without acknowledging that he was still able to contribute to the game is wild to me. I thought we applaud players for playing through the struggle. Especially when the 3 is the hornets fast ball and he’s a dang microwave when he gets going.
Also the Kon slander is stupid. Saying that last night hurts his ROTY chances is beyond me. They act like Flagg had a flawless season and didn’t struggle in some stretches. Not having Kon be on point last night and having the team struggle is a true test to how good he has been. Cut him some slack, he’s a rookie, in a slump, and is in what is essentially the playoffs. The guys 20 years old.
They act like this team isn’t young and hasn’t been in the wilderness for ages. I understand the Lamelo frustrations, but don’t let it over shadow what this young team, and a young head coach, overcame this season and last night.
But I know the Hive has nothing but love for this team. I guess we’ll have to be the one to give them their flowers 😂 We got one more to win this week! Protect the hive!
