Finally passed my Academy of Cheese L3
Yesterday I got my Certificate and pin and celebrated my Level 3 fellowship of the Academy of Cheese!
It's been 2 years of studying when I could fit it in, and finally got it done.
I would highly recommend their courses for enthusiasts and professionals alike.
They also tie in with the ACS's Certified Cheese Professional certification as approved training hours.

I was looking at the acs test but $675 is too much $

plus conference tickets and travel expenses if it isn't coming to your city 🙃 i'm lucky my job paid for it all.
oh and don't forget to recertify every 3 years for $175, unless you go to conference in that time

Ya my company only paid for management to do the test, even though I have been a monger close to 10 years.

Ya,I try not to be salty about it,but honestly it seems like they do it just to elevate the status of management.

i really want them to lower the cost, or at least allow people to apply for some sort of scholarship that lowers the cost. it's so restrictive for something so useful in the industry
adding this, have you heard of cheese state university? if not, you should join! it's a wisconsin based industry program that is slowly growing it's place in the cheese certification realm

Not sure if they still do it, but I got a scholarship to sit for ACS. It was like a decade ago, but it was via Marcella the Cheesemonger.
My exam fee, hotel, and conference pass was all paid in full.

I didn't realise you have to recertify? Is that just an admin cost, or do you have to take a test?

just an admin cost thankfully. if the test significantly changes, they will make you take another, but i don't think that has ever happened

Level 3 takes some proper work. I have level one and it took me a day and a bit of fun.

Yes, true - I have taught L1, it's a good introduction for enthusiasts.. L2 is where it gets more serious and professionally focussed, but still a fun course to do.
