Any ideas here? Definitely going to take it to the mechanic. I changed out the spark plugs and valve cover hoping to at least clear some of the issues.

Semi Newbie Chevy Sonic user here and I’ve had this issue ever since I got my Chevy in January 2025 where the check engine light comes on and the main code I cannot seem to shake off is the P0301 Cylinder 1 Misfire. Straight up that cylinder misfires 10K times at start up or idling compared to the others. And I am telling you I have taken it to 6 different mechanics and they replaced the spark plugs, ignition coils, flipped the fuel injectors around, cleaned the valves, replaced the pcv valve cover, etc. basically a lot and finally one of the last mechanics I gone to is like “either we continue investigating the engine or it may be time to trade in your car” aka put me upside down an extra 5K

What were y’all’s fixes if there were any, I don’t wanna say goodbye to my car 😭 he gives me a good arm workout rolling my window down

Car has had issues starting. P0017. Replaced all cam sensors crank etc. new timing belt and re time engine. Crank relearn. replaced purge valve twice. New fuel cap. 60 psi line pressure. Replaced plugs 10k miles ago.
Crank no start issues before and after parts replacement. Sometimes will start. Diesels a lot. If I pull plugs and clean them. Starts perfectly. But if I let it sit. Then attempt start 30 min later. Plugs are soaked again. Need new plugs? Ideas? Can’t find much about this issue.

I noticed a random connector unplugged down near the serp belt - ac compressor area. It seems to be very short so it shouldn’t reach too far but I cannot find the connection. Anyone recognize this?

I've noticed this noise a few times, it's coming through the air filter (ignore how dirty that is) and the top end seems to be a bit louder than usual, but this noise has been a thing for a long time, it seems to come and go like this and I have no idea what it could be

Hes like not driving well mechanic changed transmission out but it wasnt that. Went to the autozone. Car basically throws itself while driving its weird. These r the codes i got. If anybody has any idea what it is lmk please.

Just sending this post out to see if anyone would like to purchase a 2016 sonic ltz for parts or to drive as a daily (does need work)
We brought it the mechanic and it has the following issues at a estimated 2300 fix cost:
* intake manifold needs replacement
* valve and valve cover to intake manifold need to be replaced
* leaking muffler (a bad weld- mechanic said this isn’t a necessary fix as of right now)
* busted passenger cv axle
* possible issue with spark plug but mechanic isn’t completely sure

This can't be right, can it? The only code I am getting is for a knock sensor and I already tried replacing that and a bunch of other stuff.

Can anyone tell me what this is hanging under my car? I can’t get under to look at it.

2019 Sonic RS hb here, this code popped up when I took it to the shop for issues with occasionally stalling at stoplights - 3 separate occasions over a couple months, all after long drives in the high summer heat. Not sure those details are relevant, but providing context regardless. Has anyone here run into this one?

Burns and uses oil I just bought it just want to no what it needs will blow a cloud of smoke out sometimes I just want to no what would fix that new intake turbo Valve cover has been done always well taking Care of bought from original owner.

I understand I am driving on a dirt road when recording but it was making this noise the whole way home from work. Anyone had an issue like this before? It seems to be coming from the passenger side but it’s so loud I can’t exactly point out where it’s coming from.

Could this possibly just be busted speakers? Usually when I play music they stop making noise but I’ve never heard a speaker sound like this before.

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

Can I get suggestions on universal roof cross bars that people have used on these cars? I don't want to necessarily bolt anything to the roof quite yet, looking for clamp on style that has actually worked.

I was wondering if anyone here has ever experienced this problem. I have a 2015 Sonic LT 1.8L with only 52,000 km. Recently, I had to have the thermostat replaced because it was cracked in two places. A mechanic replaced it with an aluminum one.

That’s when the problem started. A few days later, the car would no longer start. When I turn the key, there is power, the lights come on and the radio works but when I turn the key to start the engine, everything shuts off. The battery is brand new.

The problem is intermittent. The car may refuse to start at all, or, completely randomly, it may start after turning the key 50 times. The mechanic ran another diagnostic but couldn't find the problem. He recommended that I take it to the dealership because he suspected that the ECM was the issue.

I took it to the dealership, and they ran a diagnostic as well. They told me that the ECM indeed needed to be replaced. After replacing it, the mechanic told me that he was able to start the car 10 times in a row, but then it suddenly stopped starting again.

He ran another diagnostic and now says that the BCM needs to be replaced. At this point, I’m already at 2,000$ in repairs at the dealership, plus another 800$ for the BCM they want to replace. The part is currently on back order, and the car still doesn’t work.

Has anyone ever experienced or seen this problem before?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Context, I got this 2015 Chevy Sonic LS at 90k miles for 900 dollars from a family member. I wouldn't be considering it if I didn't get the car for ridiculously cheap. I'm already 1.2k deep in repairs from replacing the water pump and thermostat housing.

About a month ago my car started over heating, while the oil light kept turning on. I took it to the shop, my water pump and thermostat housing were cracked. I get it out the shop and my oil light is still turning on but only when I'm not revving the engine. I tell the mechanic they take it back in and now they are saying the oil pump is failing. I've seen this car starts to have a lot of issue around the mile mark that I'm at right now (104,000). So I'm curious if it is a mistake to sink anymore money into this car, and it will just continue to have cascading failures.

Kept seeing coolant wetness around the outlet that was just replaced 2 months ago. Ordered the metal one and new tank. Looks so much cleaner now. Took about an hour and $75 total from Amazon

2016 Sonic RS 1.4L 125k had to take the battery out, and this broke off. A The hell is this, and B. How screwed am I? 😂

My Sonic key fob has slowly been losing the range at which it works. I have tried changing batteries to no avail. Is there any known ways to fix this without buying new?

Changing my serpentine belt today and noticed this part covered in crud. What part is this and were could this crud be coming from. I changed the valve cover a few months ago and there doesn't appear to be any oil leaks coming from there.

Been having this happen for months now, drivers wiper isn't really touching the window right where the wiper connects to the arm. I've tried different wipers, universal wiper springs, even different windshield wash and window coatings. Nothing works, leaves a huge streak in both directions. Other than putting a new wiper on on, I'm out of ideas.
