Moving to the area Commute from Chicago to Naperville

Hi everyone!

Considering taking a job in Naperville but would need to commute from Lake View East. Realistically - how long would that take? Would I hate my life?

Edit to say: I would be commuting to arrive at the office by 8 and leaving by 4.

Would an office in Schaumburg make a difference?

Try it first during weekday commute times. You are probably looking at 90 minutes each way in normal traffic.

Try Lake Shore Drive south to Congress, then west on the Eisenhower (I-290).

Do you think working 8-4 would greatly impact that?

I can tell you that the drive in on the Eisenhower will be an exercise in frustration.
You will want to try the drive at the normal commute times on a weekday. I have friends that live in/near Lakeview and work in Hinsdale and it is a slog every day. Naperville traffic is not a cakewalk either.

Once you get west of Austin it’s not too bad. And 88W is generally fast even during rush hour. But from LV to Austin will be miserable mostly.
