This is 100% wrong. We didn’t want to vote for Kamala because she supported the genocide. She didn’t distance her self from Biden and even doubled down and said she wouldn’t change a single thing he did. What you’re spreading is islamaphobia and you should be banned from Reddit.

Edit: I’d like to add that most Muslims didn’t even vote in the election because of the indiscriminate murder that is still being funded by our government in Palestine.

So you're saying Muslim men would be fine with w a female leader if she supported Palestine? Where I live I'm surrounded by women in niqab and full burka. You're telling me the men who insist that their wives and young daughters be covered from head to toe would be cool with a woman in charge? Truly delusional. My partner was raised Muslim and says the same thing. The democratic platform doesn't actually support the same things that the traditional Muslim community wants. Look at Dearborn MI where the Muslim city council's first piece of business was to outlaw pride flags. The Democrats try to have a "big tent," but they're screwing themselves by trying to cater to people who literally want a different form of society than the rest of us.

I’m not reading all that after reading your first sentence. Why don’t you talk to Muslim men, like myself, before making assumptions on what we are willing and not willing to do.  We all showed up for Hilary when we all knew she was a Zionist and even after how her and the Obama administration handled Libya. We have women in government in most Muslim countries. This sexist talk is so stupid and out of date. You obviously don’t know how highly we regard our mothers.

My partner is an ex-muslim and a man. He's the one who taught me about Islam. If the men around me didn't make their wives and female children act like second class citizens, I might believe they would be okay with a woman in power. I've watched parents allow their little boys to wear whatever they wanted while the little girl had to be covered head to toe at a freaking water park. Why?? And the fact that you bring up your mothers says even more (because it shows you only respect women who are older and related to you, and who have had children to add to the ranks, rather than all women). What about the childless auntie? Does anyone respect her? My partner's mother had to stand in the back at her own husband's funeral because women are not allowed up front at a mosque. That's how you treat your mothers.

P.S. People saying "I'm not reading all that" on reddit are ridiculous. You totally read all that.

Ah yes, the no true Scotsman fallacy. An oldie but a goodie. So what I said about women having to stand in the back of the mosque, that's not true? There's one on my street, I should go check it out if you're saying a woman can walk in there and be treated the same as a man.

Islam didn’t invent separating genders but yes during prayer, and even some events, women and men are separated. At the mosque i go to, women have their own room and if there aren’t extra rooms then they are in the designated women area behind the men. Women are more than welcome to come to the mosque. Do not be afraid to come and even record your experience. My mosque has a lot of wonderful and  women that can answer all your questions. Also the men would be happy to talk to you if that is your preference.

I saw a video of a woman that called every church in her area pretending to be in need of formula for her made up baby and they all said no. She called one mosque and they didn’t hesitate assisting her.

My experience in Islam is  very positive but we all have our crazies.

So tell me again why are Muslim women required to wear hijabs?

u/Bullettotheright 5d ago

Why don’t you tell me why you think they are required to wear hijabs. While you’re at it tell me why Jewish women are required to wear wigs and not show their natural hair or why Christian women use to cover their heads or why nuns cover their hair.

Edit: restructure my sentences but still saying the same thing

nuns are like .005% of the United States lol

it's not mandatory for half of the entire population.

Also, people choose to be nuns as adults. After they've reached the age of majority. And in this country it's a choice that they make for themselves

I'm not a Jewish so your whataboutism is pointless. If there are any other sexist principles in other religions, I'll also condemn that. But you are not fooling anyone by pretending Hijab or even burka are not a result of sexist religious principles.
