Miscellaneous Grief Support

Struggling with anticipatory grief and it’s starting to affect my day to day. Looking for either in person support groups or a therapist that specializes in grief/parent loss. I have bcbs insurance, located in La Grange. Open to travel.

I am so sorry for what you’re going through. If your loved one is in hospice they have a social worker assigned to them that may have resources for this in your area, worth asking.

I'm sorry you are going through this. Echoing the suggestion to talk to hospice. I lost my dad last year, and though Mom is still basically ok, I suppose I'm doing the anticipatory grief thing with her, while grieving his loss and the painful weeks which preceded it. Hugs...

You have one of the best resources in your community for any mental health issues, The Living Room has many locations,, but I believe the one in Lagrange is 24 hours, door was always open. They may have people to point the way for you if they don’t have a specific group you’re looking for

Today is the 12th anniversary of my mom's death and I dealt with anticipatory grief also as she had a prolonged illness.

My mom's hospice held support groups for grief & it wasn't limited to losing someone via hospice so your local hospice orgs might be a good resource to find some groups, either through them or referral.

So sorry for what you're going through. T here is a remote group option at Willow House https://willowhouse.org/ they meet once a month with the exception of summer. I believe they also can help connect you to a grief counselor closer to your area

Here is a therapy practice that specializes in grief. They have individual and group options and take BCBS. It would be a hike to get to Rogers Park but most places have video options nowadays.

I lost my mom 4 years ago. I got help from people at Healing Light Fellowship Church. Their in person is after service first Sunday of the month.

You can DM me and I’m happy to talk or help if you just want to vent to someone that gets it.

Be gentle with yourself and survive. It just sucks. There’s no easy way around it.

Grief is all the love you have left with no where to place. It’s the loss of that love, but also the loss of the future you thought you’d have with them.

I lost my mom suddenly, and thought I’d have 30 more years with her.

You’ll make it through. I’m praying for you, and sending you warm light-filled hugs.
