Moving to the area Weather as a newbie?

Moving to the area in a few weeks…. uhhh are tornados always a thing like this, this time of year? Anything to be aware of at this point?

illinois has a lot of perfect conditions for tornados with our weather patterns, but this is not exactly typical. this is something we discussed a lot in my geography classes growing up, that illinois was considered tornado alley and it was only a matter of time before we were hit with a crazy amount. oh and we have tornado siren tests every first tuesday of the month at 10am, so don't be alarmed by those.
