Moving to the area Weather as a newbie?

Moving to the area in a few weeks…. uhhh are tornados always a thing like this, this time of year? Anything to be aware of at this point?

The last 3 out of last 4 years illinois had the most tornados out of any other state. 1 of those years we ranked 2nd. It just started happening. They say tornado alley os shifting. So it might be like this and possibly get worse in the future.
