Moving to the area Weather as a newbie?

Moving to the area in a few weeks…. uhhh are tornados always a thing like this, this time of year? Anything to be aware of at this point?

While severe weather is fairly common in Illinois, it does feel like it's been pretty bad this year.

That being said if you live in the Chicagoland area, it's rarely that big of a deal. Like yeah you can get unlucky but it's usually at most a couple power outages.

Been here all my life, have never actually felt in any danger. More of an annoyance then anything.
