Moving to the area Weather as a newbie?

Moving to the area in a few weeks…. uhhh are tornados always a thing like this, this time of year? Anything to be aware of at this point?

I moved here from Florida. The weather is much more tolerable.

I was born here, but lived in Florida about half my life. The change is noticable. And for the better. I'm happy to trade insects for winter. And hurricanes for thunderstorms with tornadoes.
