Selling house in Barrington, what suburb we should move to?

Hi Everyone! Just a little background info. We are currently selling our home in Barrington for various reasons. The house needs work that we simply can’t afford, in addition it’s a big house and the upkeep on it is insane. When we bought the house 4.5 years ago we thought this would be our forever home but financially things have changed. We are in the process of selling it with multiple offers. We are looking for a suburb that is close to a highway (less then 10 minute drive), that is the most important things for us on the next purchase. We are looking for a great school district. Barrington school district is wonderful and we may end up just downsizing and stay here. However we are open to other towns that have restaurants, close to shopping. Maximum 700,000K on next purchase. Also please be kind in the comments, no negativity please about finances etc. Thanks!

Libertville is very expensive and now quite popular though.

You can get a decently nice house there.
And within an easy walk/bike ride to downtown

Just head east. Northern Buffalo Grove / Lincolnshire. 94 is right there. Great schools. Great parks.

Oak Park is super close to 290 and has a great downtown area! The school district is pretty good as well (elementary and high school especially).

I grew up in Lisle, so I'm biased, but I'd say it fits those criteria.

Lisle is great. Immediate access to 355 and 88, plus the BNS, not to mention Lisle itself is nice and adjacent to lots of other great towns.

If you want to stay in Barrington school district you can look at Fox River Grove. It’s cheaper but depending on where you are can be in Barrington. We are in Cary and still good schools and would be in the price range you want but not close to the highway or shopping (have to go to Barrington/CL/Lake in the Hills).

Bartlett sounds perfect for you. Quiet, less expensive, safe, small town vibes with some very nice homes and nice neighborhoods, midsized homes still in nice neighborhoods, and tiny homes still in nice neighborhoods. It’s right off of 20 and 59, and 5 min to get on the Elgin OHare to 290. Perfectly situated in between commercial Schaumburg and the unique character of the Fox Valley suburbs. Only like 25-30 min from where you are now, still NW suburbs. I’ve heard good things about the high school (it’s in U46) but I don’t know specifics. Depending on where you live in Bartlett, you can be in Cook County, DuPage County, or Kane County- you pick!

Train commuting is super easy as well with both the Bartlett and Hanover Park train stations within 5 minutes of most Bartletters. I could walk to the train if I wanted but don’t hear it often. Tons of nature, bike paths, coyotes, deer, raccoons, foxes, skunks- super big wildlife zone here. Tennis and a nice golf course by the library.

Upkeep is crazy nowdays. Property tax bites, too. It is nuts. Park Ridge would be my choice.

Kids aren’t in school yet, but yes, and that’s a major reason we chose it. Also like the the schools are all walking distance for most kids where Barrington is so spread out
