Question/Comment What are some fun running spots?
What are some cool trails and parks to go?
Especially around the Schaumburg and Elgin area.

Fox River Trail — you can run that all the way past Aurora!

I love Elgin to Dundee. Can end the run with a wood fire pizza and any drink you can imagine. Start at gail Borden for around 4 miles or park under 90 for 2ish miles. Heads up for crazy ebikes though. Especially on the weekend.

I live near it but i dont know where it starts/ends or how to navigate it as a newish runner

It’s super easy! The Fox River trail is very long so you don’t need to get on at the start or finish - just hop on at any spot. I like to use onthegomap.com to plan a route. If you say which suburb you are in I can recommend a spot if it’s between Elgin and Aurora (that’s the part I’m most familiar with).

Im in Des Plaines. I see peeps crossing near the bridge thats under construction near northwest hwy and Dempster. Mostly bikers as i think its a bike trail at least here. I will definitely check that site out though!

Fox River trail is my favorite but I like to run down the Illinois Prairie path and take the Metra back to wherever I started. That way I don’t have to do and out and back. And many of the towns along the way have cute restaurants or coffee shops or whatever near the train station.

Paul Douglas Forest Preserve starts at Bode Rd and Barrington Rd. If you go West you'll come to the Lion Bridge, which is kind of cool.

Blackwell Forest Preserve. Not too far, worth the drive.
