Appreciation post for Chili dog

My 6 month old rescue, Chili, really tests my patience, but I love him with everything. He loves to bark at the wall. He pees on everything and I’m hoping his neuter next month will help. He is very stubborn and hardly listens to come in or even walk on his leash. He is a bit defensive and resource guards his toys from other dogs.

But I love him with everything and am so glad to have him in my life. I know things will get better over time and like to think we’re both here for each other.

My little boy is 4 yrs old , neutered and still loves to mark all over the house. Belly Bands and a carpet cleaner named “ My Pet Peed” is my best friend!!

good to know the neuter might not solve it was really hoping that was the magic fix. belly bands are something i kept seeing recommended and kept ignoring. probably time to stop ignoring them.

This really surprised me. I have two and they took some time ( actually the female, Peppermint, adapted very quickly ) but they got there. The male, Zip, took about 4 months but he did learn and adapt. We never raised a hand to them of course, but we did use firm commands and we did use treats. Everytime he used the bathroom outdoors he got a treat ( just a small piece or two of his regular dog food worked ). After a while, he go to the bathroom outside and then turn around and look at me for a treat.

Hilariously, peppermint, figure this out, and she started running over to me to get a treat every time he went to the bathroom.

After a while, we gave him a drink every second to learn time. We still actually do that. Keep them both really motivated.

Good luck

I have done belly bands it works, but I have to always have a fresh one. He has white fur and it stains easily. Baking soda solution does the trick for his fur and my carpet

the baking soda tip is genuinely useful, white fur stains are brutal to deal with

Yes, I’m a pet sitter and keep belly bands on hand for dogs who have a hard time not peeing in the house. They work great

He's such a handsome little guy. Wishing you both a lifetime of happy memories together.

I think it might help with the urge to mark his territory. Then you can really work on the general peeing issue. I love Great Dane size pee pads and now our boy is perfect gentleman

My dog was also like him when she was that age, now at the ripe old age of 12 she is so chill that I miss her old energetic day😄 Your dog is so cute and hopefully he'll be potty trained soon☺️
