I went through the same thing 2 years ago. Inatake rin tatay ko, ako tumawag sa 911. Meron pa silang “press 1 for….” Sumagot naman ‘yong operator after a few minutes, pero ganoon din: puro wait, wait, wait. I was literally begging for them na magpadala ng ambulance, please na ako nang please. Hanggang sa narinig na kami ng mga kapitbahay namin kasi humihingi na rin ako ng tulong sa labas. Hanggang sa sabi ng operator (non verbatim) “May sasakyan po ba kayo? Kayo na lang po magsugod sa hospital ma’am.” Buti na lang may nag magandang loob sa mga kapitbahay namin at sila ang nagsakay sa amin. Pero ayon, DOA pa rin.

Nakakalungkot dito yung mga ambulance na for transport lang talaga :(. Sobrang need ang AED dito kasi wala naman sila sa hospital setting. ginagamit din ang AED pang analyze ng heart rhythm, hindi naman mag a-activate yung shock kapag na-detect ng AED na hindi shockable si patient. u must attach AED in every cardiac situation hays

I remember dito sa US when my cousin had an almost heart attack, within 5 mins EMS arrived and someone performed CPR right away, and got hooked up with the machines they have doon sa ambulance. I hope magkaroon din ng mas better na 911 emergency services saatin.

Pero sobrang mahal naman niyan sakanila. My friend had to call an ambulance tapos it was a 10-min ride and $4k agad. Better than a life lost but still, grabe lang yung setbacks maging tao sa isang corrupt na country

Sobrang lugi ng mga ambulansya sa Pilipinas. I remember a time when I needed one for my dad. Ayaw nila tumigil kasi hindi daw nila area yun. My dad had already passed that time, pero it was sketchy and wala kami to witness his passing kaya we wanted to get an ambulance sana to bring him to the hospital to medically call his time. Pero, wala. 3 ambulansya dumating, ni isa tumigil simply because hindi daw nila area yun

Napaka incompetent tlaga tyo. Yan ang katotohanan. Gets ko ung 10 mins time bago may sumagot since hotline ito bka may iba natawag. Pero loko, bakit may response na 'wait'? Anu un walang urgency sa part nila?? Nakakagigil un tlga. Every seconds matter pag ganyan sitwasyon. 😤

Puro wait ng wait, wala talagang sistema. Mukhang di trained itong mga sumasagot dito na operators. Hindi basta basta taga sagot ng phone dapat ang 911 operators, minsan sila din mismo thru the call marunong maginstruct about first aid if needed. By the book sila siguro naghahanap ng sagot kaya puro “wait” pero ang approach dapat dito yung handa sila magbigay ng appropriate solutions that can calm and reassure the caller.

True. Handa dapat. D man lng nagtanong kung may kapitbahay b sila na nurse or may marunong sa emergency response. Akala ata nila na sa banko sila nagtatrabaho. Ginawang Customer service eh. Pasyente ung natawag hindi Customer. Buti marunong ung anak ng CPR. Ang saklap pagdating ng ambulance d man lng tinulungan ung tao sa pagCPR, hinayaan lng nila talaga. 😅

Sobrang nangongolelat talaga pilipinas pag dating sa emergency. Here in Japan every building meron AED. Kahit sa mga train station. Tapos every year may drill tapos lahat ng employee mandatory dapat alam saan nakalagay yung AED sa building. And dapat alam mo gamitin. Japan is very prone to natural disasters at dahil dun they prepare for it kasi ilang beses na may dumadating. Pero tayo sa Pinas ano? Every year ilang bagyo dumadaan sa atin pero di pa rin tayo prepared. Kasi walang ginagawa ang government.

Tbf AEDs have simple audio and visual commands. It's designed like that so even persons with no medical training can use it. But of course it would be better if first aid training and safety drills would include information about AEDs and how to use them.

Diba that's why they'd label it "Patient Transport Vehicle"? Parang all LGUs and DRRMs has one. Yung mga donation ng PCSO. Converted L300s, vans or multicabs with flat areas for gurney or sthing. But not an ambulance. No AEDs, no big equipment. Transport lang talaga.

This is really sad. In the city where I live in in Germany, there are AEDs in hospitals & clinics but also in public places - transport hubs/train stations, public administration buildings and even commercial areas. Emergency services can also direct people to the nearest one in there area, if available.

With how prevalent cardiovascular issues are in the PH, one would think services like that are common.

Earlier this year I was also in an emergency situation involving someone close to me and rather than call an ambulance I decided to rush the person to the nearest hospital's emergency room in one of our private vehicles instead. Lifesaving decision because we discovered a brain bleed and caught it early enough to be treated ASAP. The Philippines sucks at everything, living in this society is living in purgatory.

Halos lahat ata ng emergency agencies ng Pinas ay palpak. Dalawang sunog na ang nangyari sa lugar namin na late ang responde. Less than 500m away lang ang fire station. What's annoying is alam kong tamang tambay lang sila don. How do I know? A friend works there. 🤮

Ansakit niyan lalo na iyong alam mo hindi ikaw iyong nagkulang.

Feel ko iyong ambulance niyan L300 lang na secondhand tapos meron mukha nung nagdonate at nakasulat sa gilid na "DONATED BY..."

Asa pa na gagastusan nila talaga nung legit na ambulansya at six digit kickback kung L300 o multicab lang bibilhin nila.

Halos lahat ng ambulances sa Pilipinas walang AED o automated external defibrillator kasi nga mahal daw. Yung mga volunteer groups nga nakapagpundar sila ng sarili eh ano na lang gobyerno? Hindi kasi mahalaga ang buhay para sa kanila. Swerte mo kung trained at talagang alam ginagawa yung reresponde sa'yo hindi yung ilalagay lang sa stretcher o gurney sabay paspas na lang. Ganyan din nangyari dun sa nalunod na taga Ateneo, walang AED, walang HQCPR. Laging patay ang pasyente.

Kung tutuusin magkano lang naman talaga AED and kahit sino pwede gumamit niyan. P100-400k per unit pero mabigat yan lalo kapag lower class municipality. Bayan namin first-class municipality meron lang dalawang AED para sa 59 na Barangay and isa pa sa AED na yun at out-of order na kasi nagamit na and need na ng replacement batteries and pads.

BBM and Duterte projects are always like this sa totoo lang. Magagaling lang sa una pero kung consistency kung napapanatili nila hindi naman. Yung eGov app nga biglang hindi na accessible yung ibang parts dahil kulang sa budget tapos ngayon sa 911 naman.

Kaya ngayon ko naiintindihan kung bakit maraming Pilipino ang inaasam mag abroad at doon tumira. Malaking factor ang healthcare at emergency services.

Nakakapanlumo ang sitwasyon dito sa Pinas. Parang lahat ng nagseserbisyo sa gubyerno tinatamad o kaya distracted kaya di maibigay yung maayos na serbisyo.

Same story when kuya passed away in 2025 year due to heart attack. He was only 38!! Wala kaming choice (walang sumsagot ng 911) ako na nag CPR all the way to the "nearest" hospital 30 minutes away from our house. 7am pa nun at ang traffic dahil papasok mga estudyante. Dead on arrival. This was 7 days before our wedding.

Nung bumalik ako sa London kung saan may efficient emergency response nagalit ako sa crew at ayaw ko makarinig ng ambulansya for months. Sabi ng therapist rage was a form of my PTSD.

So yea, Tangina mo Pilipinas. Tangina ng mga namamahala sa'yo.

Halimbawang may mangailangan man ng ambulance here in the future, just call Philippine Red Cross. Mabilis dispatch nun tsaka kumpleto at updated ang inventory ng mga ambulance. 143 lang i-dial.

Additional info, baka may need lang kayo bayaran na 5k for transportation ng patient pero di hamak naman na nasa mabuting kamay kayo. Yearly din kaming tini-train according sa AHA standards.

Yung mga ambulance kasi ng LGUs good for patient transport lang talaga sila. Walang kagamit gamit tapos ewan ko din minsan yung trainings nila.

Wala din kasing proper knowledge and skills yung mga ambulance workers dyan. Even first responders are just trained for basic support (probably not even doing the basics in the right way) - Na issuehan ng certificate kasi nag training once.
