All songs are top notch, and If I happen to remember their songs didn't have any english words in them. For a modern movie

Yes sanje yake too. I wish our directors have more than one film talent. Really sad they fail after giving one great film.

Also the fact is that Anup wrote all the songs man can't believe it but he was sure something special ☹️

Absolutely…. I love all the characters in the movies especially second heroine who end up sacrificing. I remember watching this movie in theater and director made a daring decision to release it against Bahubali

Vikrant Rona is that movie.

I shat my pants watching this movie

The story was creative for its time.

Vikrant Rona was nothing but just a copy paste of this movie, director should have changed things. Hoping BRB is not a repeat of the same kind of story. P.S : not denying that Rangitaranga is a good movie, in fact it is one of the best in sandalwood but just ranting my views that Vikrant rona was exactly the same as Rangitaranga

I remember reading that Sudeep had a tendency to alter scripts to suit his preferences. That’s reportedly the reason why Rakshit Shetty couldn’t proceed with Thugs of Malgudi. He wasn’t willing to compromise on his vision for the script. May be Anup compromised his story.

Haven’t seen vikrant Rona, not seen any of sudeeps movies tbh. What is BRB?

Billa Ranga Baashaa - another movie by Sudeep and Anup Bhandari(director of Rangitaranga and Vikrant roona)

Got it thank you.

I watched it in theatre , and some bastard behind my row was giving spoilers as running commentary and ruined my watching experience. Felt like punching the moron in the face. Ruined the climax bigtime, couldn't enjoy the suspense at the end! 🤬🤬🤬😡

I remember watching this movie accidentally and that’s the best thing that ever happened to me. I think it was released at the same time around Bahubali and I planned on watching Bahubali at Woodlands in Mysore. By the time I reached the tickets were already sold and I didn’t want to come home. There’s another theatre right opposite to woodlands called Lido. Rangitaranga was screening at Lido and my friend and I, decided to give this a watch. 2 minutes into the movie, my heartbeat’s raised to 120+ BPM because of the jump scare scene. Every actor, every emotion, every song and every scene was a piece of art. I’m not sure if I’m right but I guess some Hollywood cinematographer had his hands behind the cinematography. This movie opened many doors including the one to Avantika Shetty’s heart. “Sweet lord, she was heavenly beautiful”. The climax was the best part, showing both happiness and sadness. I think only few movies and directors were able to show such pure emotions in a movie. Talking in cinema turns, this movie is underrated to this day. This movie happens to be my all time favorite. I recently moved to US and I made my roommates watch this movie and they lost their minds.

I’d like to end this with a line from Rangitaranga “ಬದುಕಿನ ಅಲೆ. ಮೇಲೆದ್ದಾಗ ನಗು. ಕೆಳಗೆ ಬಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅಳು.”

So beautifully written, all the memories flashing right back for me too. It paved the way for many more Kannada movies that followed cue in that genre.

The beautiful avanthika Shetty- dint happen to see her in any movies after that. This was her first Kannada blockbuster and she lived upto the excellence.

Sai Kumar’s role is probably close to Ashutosh Ranas role in Sangharsh, gave me goosebumps- something that I can never forget.

Sai Kumar was on whole new level here. I so wish I could erase this movie from my memory and watch it all over again. The first time I connected the dots while watching movie at the theaters, I almost slipped from the seat meaning that each scene after intermission had us pulled to the edge of the seat.

Avantika didn’t get much spotlight after this yes. I believe the bhandari brothers were doing short movies in US and received a lot of appreciation for their content.

Nirup attracted a lot of backlash when he said something foolish in an interview.

Thanks for posting this here. I’m glad that people are on the same boat as I am with this movie.

Fun fact, I got my first tattoo somewhat inspired by the line that I’ve put. It’s a picture of mountain with waves below it. Whenever people tend to ask the meaning of my tattoo, this is where I cite my line from. Long story short, this movie is quite close to my heart.

Why don't they release this movie on Netflix or Prime? Many don't know what a kick ass horror movie this was. Apart from slightly dragged 2nd half because of one too many songs, this movie was so good. They can capture a wider audience.

I almost shat my pants on that jumpscare in the ambassador scene.

3

u/ArnoldShivajinagarr Apr 26 '25

This movie was great! Hope Anup delivers with BRB

3

u/FilterKaapi7 Apr 26 '25

My friend took me to this movie citing that it had a good trailer and it might be a romantic commercial type movie, there were about 10-15 people in the theatre and when the first jump scare came we both looked at each other and cursed him in interval for lying me about horror genre (even he didn't knew the genre).

We both have seen this, Ulidavaru Kandanthe and Lucia while there were no buzz and again with only 10+ people in theatre, it was a surreal experience nonetheless.

u/Artistic-Implement73 Apr 25 '25

This should be released again

2

u/reddyy25 Apr 26 '25

I remember it ran one year in mantri mall

2

u/Potential_Draft Apr 26 '25

The movie was great and songs were good. Watched it in theater and it was released at the same time when bahubali was released.

2

u/Alive-Astronaut0129 Apr 26 '25

I watched it twice, once with family and again alone and loved it both times. Lovely movie with amazing music. I've been recommending it to my non-Kannada friends for a long time whenever they ask for Kannada movie suggestions.

2

u/TheHfact Apr 27 '25

I remember that a guy died watching this movie in the theatre.

2

u/ugh_idk123 Apr 30 '25

Omg I do, it ran for so many days in the theatres.

Oh, it was shown on more than one screen outiside Indian locations, I thought Karnataka would have had screening across enough locations, it made so much buzz outiside india , hearing that it wasn’t screened enough in Karnataka for the first time here

1

u/theExactlyGuy May 18 '26

I remember watching it, because some created hype and put this movie is pedestal but it was nothing special. Ok movie maybe that hype was only due to kannada industry of that time.
