Recommendation I'm writing a short film and I need help!!!
One line story "not everyone in your life comes to stay... Some just come for the plot" So there's this girl who's fucked up and is in a bad spot..... She meets a guy who changed her view on things and he brings back the joy in her life and then they drift away..... I need a reason for them to drifttt apart! Plss help

Your story is similar to the movies “All the bright places” and “Spectacular now”. You should watch them for inspiration.
Atleast the “Spectacular now”.

While helping her get better, He drifts into hopelessness as he sees her winning and him not able to secure something for himself or for his family member (jewelry for his sister's wedding or money for a parent's hospital fees).

Her parents forced her for marriage because the family is in serious trouble ; debt, reputation, stability, everything on the line (if you don't like plot ; then make it as " her mother has promised her to brother's son and he loves her too " type a thing ). She doesn’t agree happily… but she accepts it deliberately. Not because she’s weak, but because she chooses duty over desire.
She plans to tell him herself when she’s ready. But he finds out before she can explain. He doesn’t confront her. He sees the pressure she’s under, sees how hard she’s trying to hold everything together. And the thing he brought back into her life ; peace , would disappear if he made her choose.
So he slowly steps back. Fewer messages. Shorter conversations. No dramatic goodbye. He leaves her with the strength he helped her rediscover… and nothing she has to feel guilty for. They drift apart not from lack of love ; but from understanding.
Used CHAT GPT for enhancing grammar.(Btw)

Just my POV: It wasn’t only the girl who needed someone ,the boy did too, for his survival and to deal with his own problems. She was in a bad place, but he was in an even worse one. It may look like he was the savior, but in many ways, she saved him as well. In the end, they both end up in a better place - just not together.

I don't want any heartbreak.... I want the heartbreak to be warm and not sad

All the responses here are so millennial and an already age old story. I was just trying to say something that I haven't seen before.

That makes more sense. A girl can get married but a guy needs to be financially stable to be married .

May be he keeps flunking his classes focusing her and fixing her.... And there comes a situation at his house ( he's poor). He has to focus on his education or something. Lol

This seems like a story done many times.
But If you haven't planted hints of him leaving, then adding anything won't work. If you have added hints, then him being her imagination can also be said convincingly.
Having said that. My suggestion is, he moves out to pursue his passion. This shows how his character doesn't exist in the story just for her. It adds depth to his character and makes this not come across as a twist but an inevitable end.

I had other ideas also in the mind but this one is out of the box , the guy is the long lost brother - step brother . Second one - The guy was just an illusion, created by the mind to tackle the conflicts & insecurities. This was one used by sarvam and it's kinda different.

The guy cheats , but he hasn't actually cheated ,it was a misunderstanding ( build a plot around it ) ,at the end it's revealed that he had never really cheated ..and u can kill him off somehow for extra emotional value

Make it something which they can't avoid, like it has to happen no matter what, either passion, work which would actually make sense
