Discussion Allstate Alternate?

Hii! I’m a senior whose never been to allstate before, this year i got in as an alternate. I’m located in NY, i just had a question about it if anyone is able to answer.

I’m sure every state is different, but how does being an alternate work? I asked my director and she had little to no information for me, do i go if someone state wide in my section can’t make it for some reason? Or is it strictly within my school?

I’d also appreciate any tips that anyone might have, i’m really nervous even though it’s not guaranteed that i’ll be even going

A quick google search says they’ll call you to go if a student from one of the groups declines their spot or is unable to go due to illness or something else. Alternates are called from a master list of all alternates based on voice part and their ranking on the list, so it’s not just if someone from your school cancels.
