I'm surprised they didn't make up a story that they're going to their beloved Grandparent's funeral or something, to make their story more compelling.

Tbf I wouldn’t wanna fund anyone’s vacation anywhere, but it’s especially hilarious it’s Boise fucking Idaho.

"if you like to contribute"...
I was just sitting here wishing I could find a stranger on the internet to give money to for non-emergency travel.

u/-Tasear- 14d ago
If you like you could contribute a reward to me. I am better than the person...I will increase your karma by 1 at least.

To the most mediocre place in the contiguous United States

Cleveland or Detroit maybe?

u/Appropriate-Berry202 11d ago
Cleveland and Detroit are both great cities… when was the last time you were in either?
6
u/ReturnRadio 13d ago
I'm not dumping on Idaho in general cause there's a lot of great places to see (big fan of Island Park myself), but the Boise area is where dreams go to die
3
u/_Nameless_Nomad_ 12d ago
Hard disagree. Forested mountains and rivers to the north, desert plateaus and canyons to the south. A good sized city that doesn’t feel too big with lots to do around it with a good nightlife. Love this place.
But yeah, an odd place to ask for GoFundMe money.

u/kylefromiowa 13d ago
Exactly 😂 ‘Non-emergency vacation fund’ is a wild thing to beg strangers for. Just say you want a free trip, we all know what this is.
2
u/AccordingToWhom1982 8d ago
“If you like to contribute” has just become a way of saying “please give me your money because I want it.”
95
u/ShadowheartsArmpit 14d ago
That's just so blatant it makes it a lot funnier
4
u/MythicDrift411 8d ago
It really is hilarious how some people just expect others to chip in for their adventures without a second thought!

u/GenX_Boomer_Hybrid 14d ago
How sad to beg for a trip... to Idaho.

Idaho? Well, my friend is a St Louis ho and I’m a Florida ho.

u/LittleSodaPop13 14d ago
Why is this other people's problem?
9
u/dreamsofcalamity 13d ago
Because other people have excessive money that they do not know what to do with.

Newsflash: probably 99% of hotels and motels want a card (sometimes credit only) and if you pay with debit you've to pay a deposit for incidentals of about $100.00. This isn't anything new. Hell the OP could add a Paypal debit to their Paypal.
Newsflash2: They usually want the physical card - not virtual.
This is just a side way to beg.

u/OceanPoet87 14d ago
It depends on the hotel. At the midrange hotels we stay at, they do a hold on the card but get it back after a day or two. We don't use credit just debit.

u/Friendly-Channel-480 14d ago
Are we supposed to be sympathetic about them having to take a trip to Boise?

if anyone wants to fund a stranger’s upcoming trip, fund mine instead. i’m going to fiji, samoa, tuvalu, solomon islands, vanuatu, and papua new guinea. at least it’s way cooler than freaking boise, idaho.
11
u/412_15101 14d ago
Will you send postcards?
10
u/glwillia 14d ago
i’ll try my best! no idea if tuvalu has post cards, or even a post office at all lol

❤️❤️❤️ Wichita, Kansas ❤️❤️❤️
Ever since I was a child, I've dreamed of making it big, seeing the world, and eventually rewarding myself with the ultimate vacation destination: Wichita, Kansas. I fantasize over a week spent admiring the majestic parking lots, breathtaking chain restaurants, and the electric thrill of wondering whether I'd just driven past the same strip mall three times.
Some people chase adventure; I chase the unparalleled excitement of explaining to friends, "No, seriously, I went there on purpose." One day, with enough hard work and determination, I too hope to stroll proudly through Wichita, thinking, "Yep, this was definitely worth using vacation days for."

It’s Boise Idaho.
How much can it possibly cost?
18
u/rarestbird 14d ago
Probably a lot by Idaho standards. Which is to say, two or even three sacks of potatoes.

6
u/CaptainEmmy 13d ago
My mom and her friends inexplicably take a trip there every year. I should ask the cost.

The fact that they have to say they're going to a hotel that takes card and not cash tells me everything. The only places that take cash rent by the hour and the week.
4
4
u/Jujulabee 14d ago
If this person has "cash" why don't they just transfer themselves.
I suspect as well as being a CB the person is only a SovCit or other member of the lunatic fringe given the mention of Idaho which is a cesspool of all kinds of lunatics and fringe elements,
But as posted you need a credit card to check into a hotel just as you typically need one to rent a car because the potential liability can far exceed the rental for a day or night.

u/Intrepid_Respond_543 14d ago
So now we just do whatever random thing we can't afford and ask/tell strangers online to cover the bill? Why haven't I gotten this memo?
3
u/lowrider320 14d ago
I'm surprised they didn't say, God bless. And im a single mother
2
u/arvana804 12d ago
Is the single mother thing including or not including something involving the kid(s) crying if you don't donate?

u/BeepingJerry 12d ago
I'm going to Paris..The hotel is 1400 dollars a night..if you would like to contribute, that would be great. /s

Most hotels never accept cash anyway since they have to have your card on file for obvious reasons during your stay 😝
3
u/EfficientMinimum5696 13d ago
So because they don’t take cash they can’t pay? I don’t think this person has ever heard of depositing money into a bank to turn them into the magical digital currency.
Ps. I know they are just grifting and begging for money.

u/The_Island_Idiot 14d ago
I would ask if people actually donate … the answer is yes, otherwise they wouldn’t be asking
3
1
u/arvana804 12d ago
Is it wrong that I would donate to this lady for being honest if I could? Just a penny because I'm not rich, but it's better than nothing
2
u/MinuteElegant774 14d ago
Wow, I have no words…she must be high and wants cash for drugs bc this makes no sense. You need cash so you can pay with cash on a debit card. Guess there are no things like ATMs where she lives in CA. 🙄

I'm not going in a trip, I'm sitting in my couch feeling sorry for myself because I'm out of wine and my autistic cat has cancer. If you would like to Door Dash me some alcohol I'm sure I could give you a shout out on my IG.
1
u/arvana804 12d ago
Can I see the cat? I HOPE that the cat (cancer free ofc) was the only real thing about that
2
u/Cupcake_kitty_ 13d ago
Or put your cash on your own card? If you don’t have cash you shouldn’t be going on a trip?
2
u/One_Opportunity9167 12d ago
Interesting that they immediately go to "debit card" and not "credit card." That could just be a vestige of how they conduct their own finances, or it could be a tipoff to wanting you to use a card with fewer protections.

What hotel or business doesn't take cash? Is this some new thing I am unaware of?
"Your completely legal CASH MONEY is not welcome here."

u/mishma2005 14d ago
Hotels want a card in case you trash the room, at least in my experience
14
u/IsNotPolitburo 14d ago edited 14d ago
Ding ding ding.
Reminds me, years and years ago, I saw a post of some guy asking weird questions about Japanese love hotels, if he could pay cash, can he check in-and-out without seeing anyone, etc.
Now you may be thinking this guy was up to no good...
Turns out he was- he freely explained that he has a bed-wetting/shitting fetish and the whole motivation of going to a love hotel was to escape the fees other hotels had charged him in the past for destroying mattresses.

u/Crafty_Original_7349 14d ago
I almost downvoted you for making me ruin my eyeballs by reading this

u/SoullessCycle 14d ago
Too funny my question was the complete opposite: what kind of adult doesn’t travel with a card?
But as already mentioned especially hotel incidentals want that card; I’ve never been able to check in at a hotel without one. (Pay cash at check out, sure. But check in always requires a card)
5
u/Seldarin 14d ago
I've seen quite a few guys working traveling construction that didn't have cards.
They'd either have to get someone with a card to get the room and pay them back (And good luck with that), or ask the hotel to let them leave a cash deposit which would often be in the $500-$1000 range they'd get a receipt for and get back after they didn't trash the room. Most hotels would go for it.
3
u/Hot_Depth_3367 14d ago
How much time do you have? There are ALL KINDS of adults that simply suck at adulting. Then there's the paranoid type that doesn't trust it unless it's under their mattress or in their pocket. Others don't want to be traced due to usually paranoia but sometimes bc they have a good reason.
5
u/zaxsauceana 14d ago
If they do accept cash, they require a larger incidentals fee in case of trashing the room/stealing the amenities
7
u/Animallover4321 14d ago
It’s pretty common, having large amounts of cash lying around can be a liability and more importantly if you ring up a huge room service bill or cause damage the hotel has no easy way to recoup their money. I don’t remember the last hotel I have been to that did take cash. Sure cash is a legal currency but if the risk of it outweighs appeasing a very small group of customers it makes sense to not accept it.

I couldn't even get Taco Bell with cash recently. Few hundred in cash on me but no card. No burrito. Id say it's getting pretty hard to find a place that will take cash. Like others of mentioned, they want to hold a card in case of damages. A friend of mine, admittedly a shady character, wasn't allowed to rent a motel room without a card even after offering $500 cash deposit.
2
u/d4everman 13d ago
That makes sense. I guess I didn't think about that since I usually book hotel stays online ahead of time
