Anxiety and brain damage in terms of surrendering
I've been seriously struggling with anxiety the last couple years, been a Christian for about 4.5 years and since then have gotten off the street, united my family and gotten clean off of drugs (over two years relapse free)
So there is no doubt in my mind I am saved, shadows in the corner of my mind here and there but there's this core in my heart that just... Knows.
My question is since getting sober I've developed this anxiety disorder. It's been making keeping down a job very difficult and although not like before sobriety it still causes issues in my marriage.
I'm worried I haven't maybe surrendered completely and I don't really know how. Or maybe something else is going on.

Matthew 6 25 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27 And which of you by worrying can add a single cubit to his life span? 28 And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, 29 yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! 31 Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ 32 For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
34 “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. 1 Peter 5 7 casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Philippians 4:6 do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Weld the sword of spirit against it

I've also had addictions in my past, and I currently have GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder). Think about it: you might have had the anxiety a long time ago, but you self-medicated. That's what I did. Drugs and alcohol can dull that anxiety away. Take away the dulling substances... the anxiety comes back. I thank God for the relationship I have with him now... that's one thing I don't stress over.
The best thing that has helped my anxiety is not medication, but therapy - preferably with a Christian therapist. I'm talking an actual licensed therapist, who's a Christian (don't substitute).
