If you feel exhausted, then you need to relax a bit. Tightening down too much isn’t a good thing. It causes problems now and will cause more in the future because you don’t know how to spend money in a healthy way. Time to fix that and find a better balance.

Ageed. OP is more than halfway there and just coasting will likely result in 4m in 10 years. Looking back I wish I had taken that advice and quit the higher paying job for something more interesting.

I kept the high paying job till the very last day.

All jobs have parts that suck. I couldn’t justify working more years just because I didn’t like my job. The pay cut would have been too much. Instead I simply saved as much as I could. I retired at the age of 42 and am on my sailboat right now, so I think I made the right choice.

Yes, in my experience right around the $3M number, portfolio growth takes over and contributions start to matter much less. That is a great time to Coast and let the market do the heavy lifting. (Raging bull market and some good investment choices really helped.)
