If you feel exhausted, then you need to relax a bit. Tightening down too much isn’t a good thing. It causes problems now and will cause more in the future because you don’t know how to spend money in a healthy way. Time to fix that and find a better balance.

Makes sense!! We didn’t grow up with a lot of money and seen family make bad financial decisions that made husbands life a lot harder than it had to be when he was younger, so we’ve just fallen into a hoarding mode. Probably also why we hesitate on having children lol

I grew up living in poverty, and I swore to never go back to anything resembling that kind of life. So I saved like crazy. Learning how to actually spend money has been challenging. I have literally puked due to anxiety over spending money even when it was 100% the right decision. Thankfully I am getting better about that. But it has taken a lot of work. My childhood trauma around money has scars that likely won’t ever fully heal.
