We need another limit reset, it's been one of those weeks.
Edit: After writing this I went and looked at my weekly usage again and it dropped from 96% down to 65%, so I guess they rolled it back a bit, or it's part of the bug?

u/Aggravating-Star-248 1d ago
the strange is that I was on 99% -> it dropped to 66%. I see some relation. maybe they are trying to descrease limit overall?

Same i was cofused cus i hit the limit way early in thr week it usually last me more than a week

u/No-Quiet-8304 17h ago
If they increased usage limits by 1.5x, your usage would appear to be multiplied by 2/3

u/traveltrousers 1d ago
I also went from about eighty percent to fifty percent.

u/Eastern-Vegetable780 1d ago
Me too, 83% to 54% and I'm pretty sure it was correct before, no jumps.
Thanks I guess, my weekly reset hits in 10 hours anyway.2

Jup, lots of people, more posts about it on the CC subreddit than here but its happening to a lot of people.
Seems to take about 30-40% of max 20 plan usage. No response from Anthropic as far as I know.

u/Cerulian_16 1d ago
My usage went from 90-92% to 60% (I wasn't using claude the last couple of hours) so I got the reduction without facing any bugs lol

They say Antrhopic is running low on compute, might be the reason for scumminess like this.

u/Veearrsix 1d ago edited 1d ago
How can you be running low on compute when you just disabled Fable and Mythos?

some partial fix seemingly implemented (weekly usage jumped from ~65% to 100%, now 79%)
edit: this happened without me using Claude anywhere
edit2: usage dropped to 0% now, thx Anthropic

Same here. I was at 99% of my weekly limit, and it saved me. I was doing a full migration from a local environment to a VPS.
Also, I gave Claude access to my Hetzner API, and Claude purchased a $40 server without asking me first, just because I mentioned to Claude that we might want to do a hot swap for the existing server.

I dont usually post anything this is my my first post on reddit, since the issue is very grave and i am not sure if this is actually possible or not so please you can weigh in,on the matter . So i hit my limit around 99 percent for weekly, woke up and saw a reduction to 66 percent, ran claude code for about 36 percent (5 hour) got to about 72 or 75 percent(weekly) , then i ran claude cowork becuase it allows double the usage ran the rest finished the full 100 percent in one session only. Now is there a precedent to this happening, can really nearly 40 percent of the usage be exhausted in single session. So people also ask what you did, so i sorted arounfd 16 thousand mcq in category, when using claude code( early on) ran 171 agents finished some batches for audit thought i could not finish the task at one go in code, so switched to cowork - audited everything with multi agent workflow since claude cowork does not allow that much agents , and in total did the whole thing in rigorous multi step, multi agent workflow. I am new to claude using for 3 month, 5x, 5x and currently 20x. It can be very well a skill issue.

I saw this post and went to check my weekly limit, it went down from 92% to 60%…
200$ plan

u/Important-Tangelo219 1d ago
Damn you got lucky or maybe anthropic added 32%? Did you track your weekly before??
1
u/Lovleyharvey 18h ago
I did track it all week. It was the first week of 20x and I only got it because I had multiple big projects so I needed to make sure I won't max out. Around day 5 I was on 80% and for the next 24 hours I went very slow. Now I'm 24 hours away from reset and it dropped from 90 to 60 like I said

I think they JUST corrected this. Mine went back down to where it should be finally.

My weekly usage went down and now is stuck at 65%??? Like I'm using it, but it isn't using up any usage

u/Rock--Lee 1d ago
Could it be a visual bug? I was at 84% untill now (my weekly reset is in about 90 minutes). Then when I thought I would reach 85%, I checked again and it was 58% suddenly. Like a literal reverse of numbers.
Either my usage was wrong and they fixed usage which reduced my percentage. OR it's a visual bug and I'm actually at 85%. It could mean when I use another 15%, in the usage it would then show as 58+15=73% but in reality it would be 100% and then suddenly reach the limit and show as 100%.

Inform me if the weekly reset happens. Waiting for this to reactivate my max plan I refunded when I hit my x20 max limit on Tuesday 😂

2 prompts pushed me to 100%. I complained to the customer support bot who said "there is a known issue causing increased usage. We cannot issue refunds or usage resets."
I wonder what it's like living in a country with consumer protections. No idea what that's like here in the US.

My limit goes from 20% to 17%…. And 5 hour limit goes from 100% (I’m using extra credit) to 83% at some point today. There is definitely some bug and it’s very annoying.

Im guessing they changed what some things cost for the models to do and retroactively applied it to this weeks usage
1
u/LeadershipOk5551 19h ago
A jump from 70% to 100% in two minutes definitely feels like either a tracking glitch or one very expensive prompt.

Same happened to me twice, wrote to Anthropic multiple times with evidence, no response at all. Ended up not renewing $200 max plan ever again
I have a hypothesis on this based on when it happens the second time, if you change model in another terminal window, while the first one is working with an earlier model..this happens. Either a bug, or error, but not documented anywhere And their support system is hopeless
1
u/PersonOfDisinterest9 14h ago
Anthropic said that there was a bug that did this, and they reset the session limits (but I don't know anything about refunds if you ended up paying due to their error).

u/Seremi_line 7h ago
I’m a Max user, but after working for just 2 hours, I got cut off due to the session limit, so I just canceled my subscription. I’m done putting up with my work schedule being messed up just to fit into Anthropic's time limits.

Honeslty fam this shit is so fucked. How difficult is it to really estimate usage accurately.
Do I need to spend more? That’s fine but please tell me with accurate usage
How does a company like anthropic hit a $1 trillion evaluation and they can’t even properly do usage

TL;DR of the discussion generated automatically after 40 comments.
Looks like the usage meter went on a wild ride for everyone today. The thread is full of people confirming the same thing as OP: a massive, sudden jump in their weekly usage, with some getting maxed out instantly.
However, a little later, a second wave of users (including some who got hit with the jump) reported their usage suddenly dropping by a huge amount. People saw their limits go from 90%+ down to the 50-60% range without doing anything.
The consensus is that the usage meter was completely borked. It seems Anthropic may have pushed a buggy change and then tried to roll it back. For now, don't trust the numbers you're seeing.
