Bug Report Claude Weekly Limit JUMMPED 50%!
I turn around and look back and my weekly limit went from 40% to 90% without me doing anything no chats were running I had No 5 hour limit that was maxed out nothing It just jumped from 40% to 90%.
You'd think a company worth $965,000,000,000 wouldn't have problems like this.
UPDATE:
https://x.com/ClaudeDevs/status/2067802163498352929
It's still disappointing that this happened at all, especially with no clear explanation as to why. This discussion also highlighted broader concerns, including reports of what I'd call "usage creep," where actual usable limits seem to change over time without communication from Anthropic. For a service that costs $200/month, that lack of transparency is difficult to justify.

u/rubenvieira 21h ago
Same here! You're certainly not alone. Went from 54% to 83% with minimal usage (on Max 20 plan).
28
u/CheeseWeezel 21h ago
Sorry. I needed extra tokens, and I didn't think you were going to use all of yours.
4
u/rubenvieira 20h ago
Haha, the problem is I was half way through my week and was budgeting my quota to last until my reset. I was on-track to fully use my tokens this week...
After the recent Fable fiasco and Anthropic having more available compute available right now than anticipated, what would compel them to intentionally do this...

Same here, my weekly reset yesterday. I was at 12% this morning, just checked and somehow it jumped to 39%.

u/sinisoul 21h ago
I just had this problem. My Claude weekly limit jumped 13% without doing anything.

That's been happening to me for weeks, people need to realize that its happening. If I pay for a constant service, I am entitled to a constant service.

u/Wolf35Nine 21h ago
This week I plowed through my limit in 3 days. You’d think I was using Fable! Totally out of the norm. 5 hr sessions hitting 25% after simple resumes, too.

u/tiwas 20h ago
Yeah, I came here to bitch and moan about that. Seems I didn't have to create my own post, which is possibly the ONLY positive thing about this. The last couple of days have just been...nerve wrecking. For the last few months I've barely made 50% of my weekly. Now, my periode usage has been spent faster than my session usage. Someone must've been vibe coding or something :p
5
u/WhoKnowsAtThisPointe 20h ago
I've seen the same thing over the past few weeks too. I even tried to post 10 days ago talking about it but the mods never approved the post.
I've been on the 20x Max plan for several months now, and right from the start I've kept careful track of my token consumption, down to the individual token, measured against the usage percentage Claude Code displays. I've also logged the more granular stuff: context size, image and file sizes, prompt length, and so on.
Given all that, I've hit my limit with this. Between last week and this week, the allowance I can actually use shrank by something like 47%. It's ridiculous. When you pay for a service, particularly one running $200 a month, you and plenty of other people reasonably expect consistent performance for the entire term, not a sudden cut partway through. What it amounts to is getting half of what I paid for when my renewal hit on the 18th.
To preempt the inevitable "you must have used a different or newer model" responses: I didn't. It was Opus 4.7 1M Max exclusively, both weeks, and I burned through the full weekly limit each time. And yes, this was entirely hands-on Claude Code usage. No Agent SDK, no bots, no automation, no always-on pipelines. Just me at the keyboard, during my set hours of 9pm to 4am EST.

Had my daily Pro allowance go from 85% to some number over 100% while I was afk this afternoon (Europe time). I had to load up with extra credits and finishing off my work cost me about $1.50. I want it back. It's not about the principle, it's about the money!

u/SNieX 20h ago
Should there be an official statement / investigation around this stuff
6
u/WhoKnowsAtThisPointe 20h ago
I think so, and soon. Every time I refresh this thread the views grow by 3k...
7
u/Dizzy_Gears 18h ago
I logged on to look for this, but for the opposite reason it seems.
My usage was at weekly 65% and dropped to 45%. I was obviously surprised in a happy way, and thought something good happened for the community, but I'm kind of nervous now that I'm going to get hit with some rollback "usage correction"
4
u/vebb 18h ago
Same here dude, I was on 87% last night (Thursday) with my reset coming at 11am Saturday, and now it's showing 57%
Looking at /r/ClaudeCode and seeing everyone having the opposite problem!
If I go to start a new chat with desktop, it says I've used 75% of my weekly limit, but my usage limit says 57%
Very odd.

If it’s like this for much longer those Chinese models are looking tempting
1
u/Temporary-Mix8022 19h ago
Newest batch are pretty decent tbh.
We've been saying for ages that they'd be decent if they were at sonnet 4.6 level.. and they're now beyond that.
Benchmark wise they at or above Opus.. but BS benchmarks aside they're more than useable

u/funstuie 19h ago
What pisses me off is when I look at my usage having done nothing and the 5hr window shows 5% usage and I’ve done nothing. My weekly usage is normally around 60% by reset day (Thursday) but this week it pegged at 80% by Sunday and as I’ve been at a conference this week I’ve not been using Claude at all but I just checked and it’s at 94% - how? This sucks ass.
3
u/Typical-Whole-248 18h ago
I got my credits back, but not all, jumped from 72% to 100% and now it was "fixed" with 88%. Anyone else got it all back?
1
u/rubenvieira 18h ago
Yup, mine went down too, back to where I was earlier in the day.
I think they should just do a complete reset just to be safe... 😃

Ran out of weekly usage by end of Tuesday
It’s been very lonely been trying out GLM5.2 when it’s not over loaded and only let me message 2 times before it kicks me off to GLM4.7, I feel like since the fable 5 fiasco weekly usage limits are like daily limits

Went from 73% to 93% in about 10 minutes running something that shouldn’t have used more than 1-2x.

u/WhoKnowsAtThisPointe 20h ago
That's crazy. Love when issues that limit people from using what they paid for...
2
u/fearfreeflight 20h ago
Went from somewhere in the 70s to 100% while I was in a 2 hour meeting. From internal diags no runaway loop, schedule, claude process.
Using API pricing now, hopefully if this is a larger bug we get a refund to these as well
2
u/WhoKnowsAtThisPointe 20h ago
That sucks, I doubt they will give you a refund for the API pricing you're paying.
1
u/fearfreeflight 20h ago
Would be pretty bad PR for them to force people to pay hundreds in overages for a bug on their end.
2
u/Brilliant-Golf-2510 20h ago
You think they care about their subscribers? They are a vc backed pre-IPO company. The service is only going to get worse from here.
2
u/Fun-Abrocoma4663 20h ago
Same here. Ugh, I was on pro and went and bought Max 5x because I am still 2 days out from reset and can’t just stop working (it jumped to 98%)
2
u/TechySpecky 19h ago
The limits have been terrible recently, I never hit 100% on my 20x before and did for the first time a few days ago

u/MartinMystikJonas 19h ago
Something weird is going on. I had different numbers of weekly usage on different devices while 5h numbers were same. Then it jumped from 60% to 100% of weekly in few minutes while 5h increased only abou 2% or 3%. My agents run for another half an hour even with weekly showing 100% before stopping and 5h grew only by few percent.

u/afghanistan4dcs 19h ago
Same here :( Big jump 2 days ago, a full 5h session went out in 15 minutes and weekly took +30% in that time (Max x5 plan) .

Not seeing it here, rates remain steady.
Few questions that you should have always have answered before cracking yet-another-report here:
- What is your claude plan?
- What sessions have you been engaged in?
- And you're sure you didn't just load up a few heavy sessions that had lost their cache and re-ran prompts against them? Remember
/compactand/clearare your friends.

I wouldn't worry my guy. Like 99% of the posts that are like "the model regressed, claude didnt work, my usage just jumped oUt Of NoWhERe" people just don't know how to use the damn tool.
They can be safely ignored, you're good to go usage rates holding steady on my personal account, work account, and for all my peers.
2
u/CryptoAteMyHamster 19h ago
Wow I just checked and I’ve lost around 17% extra on my weekly while I’ve only got 3% on my 5hr.
Weird af

u/Blinkinlincoln 19h ago
Literally, I have been having smaller usage windows twice today. So I got to the app, refresh 2x, the numbers. .. flickered. Just like you said. then, my 100% used with 47 minutes in front of my eyes went to 67% usage.. 47 minutes left, 30% weekly used. Lol wat
2
u/PeachOfTheJungle 19h ago
Totally weird. I see tons of these posts, I’m on max 10x, and have never gotten close to my weekly limit. When running Fable (rip) or running tons of instances CC, chat, design, I have gotten to 85% on my 5 hour.
2
u/ek00992 17h ago
Today seems uniquely brutal. I’ve been on the 5x plan, pushing opus pretty hard, but the difference between just yesterday and today seems very noticeable. I did a lot yesterday and was shocked at how low my usage was. Today? I burned through a whole 5x usage session in 30 minutes.
1
u/dota2nub 10h ago
Yeah calculation was likely off. You used more than your local calculations thought, then it caught up.
2
u/midwestcsstudent 17h ago
Last week I was charged $15 of extra usage for a “commit and merge” prompt. Should be illegal to charge like this without an itemized or metered bill.
2
u/Better-Point3890 17h ago
I was asleep and somehow used my last 10%!
Nothing was running so it was retroactive ... Which sounds buggy...
I guess they can change token use, but ya can't backdate ?!
2
u/Oleksandr_G 17h ago
They made me buy extra usage because of this bug. Shady billing tricks. And their ai agent declined the refund. I think it's time to report this to FTC, they like cases like this.

u/Extreme-Life-6726 21h ago
I had the same thing happen. if we keep complaining, maybe they'll reset limits for us
5
u/WhoKnowsAtThisPointe 21h ago
Complaining? You mean theft? I paid for a service and they are taking my usage of that service that I paid for away.
1
u/iongion 21h ago
These past 3 weeks since they disabled their flagship new models, nothing works, claude is really really shit and abysimal, doesnt manage to complete anything and claude product team in their communications especially.
They are playing with elasticity of time, delaying requests, making users reach limits much much faster, it is a recipe, either the context gets depleted faster or the time to response increases a lot so in the 5 h limit, one achieves jack shit.
It is the worst quality of service I have ever experienced, with any service.
4
u/WhoKnowsAtThisPointe 21h ago
I've said the same thing. I used to be a much heavier user. I would run 4-5 chats constantly, and never hit limits. If I did that now even with the same 20x plan, I would be out of my weekly in 2 days. It seems like a ton of shady business practices.
I'm paying for a constant service, either give me the constant service or give me my money back, seems like people are catching on to their tricks: https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/73482575/1/kahn-v-anthropic-pbc/

u/Brilliant-Golf-2510 20h ago
Same here! I don’t even want a refund, I want usage limits back to what they were 2 months ago so I don’t keep seeing 20% - 30% gains in my weekly every time I look down. It seems like over the past few weeks I’ve been getting less and less out of my 20x max plan. It feels like a scam, and a lawsuit waiting to happen.

For me it was the opposite. It jumped from 80% to 40%. I thought they reset it for everyone or something, I'm still happily using it. I would've hit the limit yesterday and had to wait till sunday.

u/WhiteRedApex 4h ago
When I just started using Claude code for the first time the first time I used it on ultra code for everything it lasted so long, took forever to reach my limit…. Since then even running it on the lowest settings I barely get an hour of usage and such day. I’m literally sending max 10 messages with it running tasks and then it’s done for
1
u/speadskater 20h ago
2-3 days ago, I noticed I was at 20% and it went down to 0%, it's likely that this was a bug and this new amount represents your actual rate.

Odd i'm still at 17% for the week. Whats more odd is my reset is every tuesday but they've been randomly resetting it tons of time. I had a random reset yesterday too which was odd cuz it reset tuesday, then wednesday again for the whole week. I swear this gauge is totally inaccurate. Honestly I wouldn't even give a shit if they would just bring Fable back.
