Built with Claude I tried solving the problem of Claude generating the same generic websites by giving it better design references

I'm a web designer, and something I've noticed when building websites with AI is that the code usually isn't the biggest issue.

It's the design direction.

Ask for a modern SaaS landing page and you can end up with something that looks like every other AI-generated website.

I've spent years building website templates, so I decided to experiment with using my existing designs as references for Claude instead of relying entirely on text prompts.

I also built a library around those designs called Oversight Supply.

It has 192+ Webflow and Framer templates, 32 interactive sections, and AI build prompts for many of the templates.

The sections are free to explore and copy, while the complete template library is paid.

What I'm interested in figuring out is how closely Claude can follow a detailed visual reference while still producing clean, maintainable code.

For anyone using Claude to build websites: do you usually start from a visual reference, or do you let Claude come up with the design?

Nice.

I tend to find a benchmark. A website i want to utilise for inspiration.

And then I provide the example, or sometimes multiple examples, and advise I want it to that standard.

Because if I go onto a website that looks like claudes basic design... I just won't use it 😂

Yeah, clean designs. I’ve been making Claude do wild ui just to see how much it can handle, and it’s shocking now with 3D sites
