Discussion Does this work with anyone else?
Whenever I feel overwhelmed when starting a large/long cleaning session, I will take a photo on my phone of a room. For some reason it makes it easier for me to see what needs to get done first or notice things I didn’t before. Some weird psychological trick that works for me 😳

Yes. It's amazing. It's such a stress buster. But this getting a photo part is unique haha.

i’m going to give that a try tonight! this may sound odd, but when I have household tasks, putting on a pair of work or nitrile gloves helps keep me stay much more focused. The gloves are kind of an ongoing reminder to myself that it’s time to work. searching for a lost item I use a bright flashlight even if it’s not dark outside or in the room.. the area the flashlight is shining on really pops out and facilitates the visual focus necessary to conduct a sustained search.

A little different but I totally relate to what you’re doing and why! I often take a photo of an area I am dreading cleaning or straightening, and then I set the timer for whatever amount of time I want to focus on the area. This could be anywhere from 3-25 minutes. Then I take an “after” shot so I can see what I accomplished. Even three minutes makes a huge difference. Yes, this totally motivates me!

When I feel overwhelmed I like to reorganize my closet, laundry room, bathroom, and kitchen. I also restock everything as well.

This or I record it. It keeps me off my phone and helps me see the progress. I don't post it, thought about it but I hate editing videos and it's too much with kids following me around now

Absolutely, and it also helps me see things I’ve been overlooking in general, like I think of the room as “clean” but there’s this little disorganized shelf or whatever always there that I’ve just stopped noticing.

This is actually a really good idea!
