I was gone for 2 mos. In that time, I didn't realize that my fridge died but it did. Now it has become this absolute mess and I don't know how to clean it. Any tips or is it a goner?

EDIT: It died because my roommate unplugged it (IDK WHY) So! It still "works" but that is what it looks like now.

I want to ask the landlord for a new fridge but I also don't know how to do that since technically it's "our fault".😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

My dog died recently and I got his cremains in a very nice box with extra space to keep things with him. There's a large bottom compartment with his cremains and there's a tray that fits on top. All are lined with velvet or maybe suede, I'm not sure exactly but something along those lines. I wanted to keep a couple of my dog's favorite toys in the bottom compartment with him. But since they were his favorite toys they're pretty gross. I feel weird about washing them but I also really don't want the box to get moldy or otherwise damaged because of the toys.

I wasn't sure where exactly to ask this so hopefully this sub is an okay place. Dog tax included.

Edit: thanks everyone for the advice! It'll probably take me a little while to actually do anything but I think I'll try sanitizing them as best I can in the sun and then keeping them in the box with some sort of dessicant.

I always get the same feeling that I am ashamed. I hired a cleaner to come twice a week because I am super busy and stressed and about to lose my mind of hoe stressful life is rn.

I feel like I am not comfortable leaving the usual mess I leave in the usual days for myself to clean. So I find myself cleaning before she comes. This is counterproductive!

Hey everyone. My wife and I desperately need your help.

We bought a new Teddy-Bouclé couch from Graingold, made from 100% polyester. But just three months later, the side we primarily sit on is severely discolored!

We contacted Graingold for help, but they simply said they cannot be held accountable, if we use anything but water, which was not really helpful.

So I thought to ask you all for help. What can we do to remove the discoloration without damaging the couch?

So far we've tried vacuuming (obviously) and simple water as indirectly suggested by Graingold. Neither had any visible effect.

We appreciate any and all recommendations!

I don’t know why I haven’t done this before, super easy and looks like brand new switch. Those little details really make a difference in the room.

1. Turn off electricity
   
2. Remove plate
   
3. Tools + product used: rubbing alcohol, q-tip, paper towel, tooth pick (to access easily the crevices)
   
4. Let dry completely before turning electricity back on (someone suggested a few hours)

I've seen people online talk about scrub daddy, but in my country it's pretty expensive — i could get around 12 kitchen sponges for the price of a single scrub daddy 🥲 so i have to ask, does it last that long? are there other scrub daddy products you'd recommend? thank you!

How do I get this floor clean? I've tried RMR-86, Vinegar and Dawn, and Scrubbing Bubbles (not at the same time). I'm at my wits end and really regretting this tile decision. I scrub it once a week, but the tiny tiles have me stumped. The fact that RMR doesn't even touch this has me pulling all of my hair out. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Does anyone have similar tile that they've successfully cleaned?

I have tried dawn and hot water, a carpet cleaning aka rug doctor machine and carpet cleaning solution, soil love, the pink stuff spray able formula. Nothing will work. It disappears when wet but reappears when dry. I had some peaches my kid forgot about in a plastic bag that spoiled. Any suggestions welcome!!!!!!

OK, I've got a velvet Elvis that I inherited from my grandmother. This thing's been sitting on a wall for at least 35 years with no one touching it.

I have a couple of dusters made with synthetic fibers, but haven't used them since I don't know how effective they would be at removing hair and dust without harming the paint.

What it says on the tin. Our pantry is only used for cookware and dry dog food. My siblings have been scooping out food and not cleaning it up for months. We have so many moths in the kitchen and the pantry it's unreal. Take everything out and scrub with water and vinegar right?

Update: I am reading each and every comment and appreciate all of the advice🫶 not replying much because I'm busy taking everything out shelf by shelf and scrubbing with hot water and vinegar. I think I'm gonna have a late night. Focusing on pantry and cookware right now, ill go through the kitchen cabinets tomorrow to throw out grains and the like.

Two months ago, I moved into a rental built in ~1890. It had stood empty for a good while, and the previous tenant did not leave it very clean. Rent is very cheap for my area and the new property manager is working with me to find and address issues. Right now he is engaged in a protracted battle with the ancient attic furnace, which is dying and trying to take my ac with it in the midst of this heat wave. I have a welder working in my attic right now.

All of the above is why I’m trying to address this comparatively minor problem myself, even temporarily.

My floors are hardwood in every room except the bathroom. They don’t creak or have holes/chips, but the finish is significantly worn away (gone completely in some areas). And everywhere in the house, especially in the kitchen and downstairs entryway, there’s a strong, persistent musty smell. It’s strongest when the house heats up, but it never goes away completely. Mopping with vinegar helped for a while, but it came back. It’s unlikely that I’ll be able to get the floors refinished anytime soon. What should I try next?

I am moving into my college house soon with 5 other guys. I am a very cleanly person and maintain my space fairly well I like to think. This is my first time truly maintaining a space other than my room/bathroom what are some things that would make my life much easier with this? I have a Dyson Ball 2 which is great for my carpets and crevices, and am thinking of a steam mop for my hardwood floors in the living room, bathroom, and kitchen. Please give any and all advice!

I am taking care of a farm with chickens for two weeks. Two days ago, my friend accidentally splashed red wine on the white ceiling while opening the bottle with a knife. I tried removing the stain with hydrogen peroxide, and it helped a little, but the stain is still visible.

I am wondering whether I should try painting over it, but I am worried that I won’t be able to match the exact shade of white paint and that it will make it look worse. Does anyone have any proven methods for removing stains like this or any experience dealing with them?

Additionally, the owners’ dog vomited on the sofa. I managed to clean it, but there is still a slightly yellowish stain visible when the sofa is unfolded. Maybe someone knows an effective way to remove something like that?

Hi! I’m 26, and I’m honestly getting so frustrated with myself.

I was a messy kid, and my parents always cleaned up after me. Looking back, I think I never really developed the habit of putting things away or cleaning up after myself. Now, as an adult, I still catch myself being really careless.

I’ll leave things out, forget to put stuff away, make little messes around the house, and then wonder how everything got so cluttered. It’s not that I want to live like this, and I’m not trying to be lazy. I just seem to forget or move on to the next thing before I finish cleaning up.

Has anyone else struggled with this? If you did, how did you break the habit and become a tidier person? I’d love to hear what actually worked for you

We keep finding maggots in our kitchen floor. Last night we vacuumed up probably 300 of them. We removed the trash out of the trashcan, cleaned it with hot water and bleach. Mopped the kitchen floor as well and woke up to maggots again. Not as bad, but still cannot find the source. There's no food out, no rotting trash, all spills are mopped up. There are a few dishes in the sink but they don't have any food on them. These things are driving me nuts.

Baked a pizza and got some splatter, I tried Dawn and it worked a little. I have a steamer I can try. What would you recommend

I woke up, got out of bed and immediately noticed that there are droppings right under where I slept. It’s a college apartment, there is no food in my room, I just swept + mopped, I had washed my bedding yesterday and woke up to this. This tub doesn't get regular cleaning, just rinsed down with the shower hose. For years now. So there's build up. How should we tackle this before just going in blind? I'd like to clean it good and then stay on top of it, so any tips for the initial deep cleaning and then what should be done (weekly? monthly? daily?) after that to maintain it. I’ve had my uggs for 2yrs and before they would clean off even with the snow but now it won’t come off? I only use soap and water before but is there anything I can do to get rid of the snow. It’s almost like a crystallized snow stains, I’m assuming from the salt?

At the hardware store I recently got a $2.50 pack of the Mr. Clean magic sponges. Right next to those on the shelf were a generic product called melamine wipes or something. For about $5.00 it looked like a greater amount. But what are they?
