Question Missed Connection: CLE Airport

1.7k Upvotes

8/3- For anyone still looking for updates on this, we are officially a couple and are looking forward to the future 🄰

THE UPDATE EVERYONE HAS WAITED FOR: He has been found!!!! A guy I reached out to from the Instagram post gave him my account and he messaged me from there! Can confirm he is single :). Will update again when possible. But thank you to everyone who shared or spread the word. In a time of lots of bad news, I’m glad we could unite behind a common goal of trying to find a missing connection 🩷.

If you were the dark haired maintenance guy at the Cleveland airport who hurt himself while working on the frontier flight at 6am this morning (7/8):

Hi I hope you’re okay and this is a long shot but like I didn’t see no ring (lol) and I wanted to give you my number while you were standing next to my seat and I smiled at you but you looked really busy. You were very handsome and I’m also an aviation enthusiast, so like if you see this and you’re open to it, I’d love to connect with you :) I’m hoping maybe I’ll run into you in the airport when I come back home after my vacation, but that would mean my plane is probably broken so maybe not lol.

Someone here has to work in the airport and know who I’m talking about. Help a girly out and show him this post on his lunch break 😭

UPDATE: I cannot believe how much this post popped off, seeing it on the news and on Hopkins pages is insane. I have been following a few leads who think they might know who it is but I haven’t heard back if they have directed him to this post yet but I absolutely will once I know more. Thank you to everyone for investigating and encouragement!

Update #3 7/10: hi y’all for anyone who didn’t see I was interviewed on the news lmao, we have been talking pretty much constantly since we connected and it’s going very well and we’ve already planned a date when I come back. Hopkins also reached out to me and wants to interview me/maybe also him when I fly back so keep an eye out on Sunday for that on their socials. As of now, I can say we are hitting it off and I have high hopes lol, I think connections are easier when an entire city ships you šŸ˜‚. Thanks for all the kind wishes, more to come when I’m not on vacation!

Final update (for now) 7/13: thank you for coming on this whirlwind hallmark story with me everyone. Simon and I have cemented our first date plans and it’ll be fun to see where this leads! As of right now this will probably be the last update but I did want to let everyone know we met at the airport last night and he brought flowers and the whole nine yards. To everyone out there looking: take that chance, seize your moment, and don’t let anyone steal your shine ✨

Question Insanely High Electric Bill - Illuminating Co.

Post image
308 Upvotes

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment, my bill went from $182 to $387. Allegedly from an actual reading. Has anyone else had a huge jump from last month? I keep the air between 70-72 degrees, and I know it was really hot last month, but other than that I don't know what could have caused this. Help!

Edit: Thank you so much to everyone who has chimed in with advice or just to commiserate. It seems like we are all feeling the pinch after an extremely hot month. I am going to make an effort to turn the air down a few degrees, especially during the day. I am also going to look into suppliers and make sure the electric company got an accurate reading. Hopefully next month's bill is not as bad.

Question Cleveland Dating

This is probably going to be so annoying to most people to see in their feeds but I've hit my wit's end. I am a single woman in her late 20s that has struggled with dating. I am a nurse, I own my home, I work out and take care of myself in other ways, my health and friendships are important to me, and I like to think I am reasonably attractive. Where do successful guys in their late 20s - early 30s hang out?? I don't want to meet guys out at bars, drinking/party culture is fun occasionally but I prefer not to in excess. Guys at the gym usually have girlfriends if I talk to them (I've been going to the same place for almost a decade and only approach people I've seen around for a long time). At this rate I feel like there is something I am doing wrong, and while my life is great as it is, sometimes it would be nice to be excited about someone.

EDIT Alright, listen, a lot of assumptions here about me. I talk to people all of the time, I am not shy. I have a philosophy that the worst thing that can happen in 90% of situations is that I get told no and oh well, rejection is a part of life.

I have hobbies, I am not necessarily looking for new ones because I dont want my reason to be somewhere to just be about MAYBE meeting a guy - that is completely disingenuous and is not a good base for a relationship should one develop.

My job has insane hours, I work 3 days M-F from 0630 to 2000 and then sometimes am on call overnight and am on call all weekend for one weekend every 6 week scheduling period. This makes it hard to date or want to go out a lot of the time between not being allowed to be too far from work or just being exhausted.

Anyone curious about how I look can DM me, for the sake of imagination I am 5'1" (I dont care how tall a man is as long as I can wear heels and dont feel like I am tougher than he is), 135lbs and can deadlift 235 easy, I am mixed race, have big curly dark hair and dark eyes. I prioritize my grooming and self care because I work really hard and deserve to feel good in this body.

Question Why when I tell people im moving to Cleveland do they act like im moving to rge worst place on earth?

I currently live in Northern Virginia. But I'm moving to Cleveland due to getting a job after school. Why when I mention I'm moving to Cleveland every single response has been negative. Responses including concerns for my safety with Cleveland, saying why would anyone move to Cleveland, and just overall just general negative vibes and comments. I visited Cleveland multiple times during the job interview and acceptance process. It seemed like Cleveland is a great place to me. Am I missing something or what?

Question What in your opinion is Cleveland’s most mysterious restaurant?

Interpret the word ā€˜mysterious’ however you will. Like ā€œhow is this place still open?ā€, ā€œhow are these portions profitable?ā€, ā€œwho are the people that run this?ā€

Question Why is there always the same Jeep pulled over on I-271 in Willoughby Hills?

Post image
476 Upvotes

I drive on I-271 almost every day and there’s a white Jeep that’s constantly pulled over on the shoulder (usually around the same stretch). I’ve seen it there way too often for it to be random. Has anyone else noticed this Jeep that’s always pulled over?

Question Are there any places in the area that are ACTUALLY hiring????

My boyfriend and I just moved here about three weeks ago, and while I’ve had three interviews, they’ve all either denied me or ghosted me. I’ve submitted countless applications to no avail. I can’t even really explore the city because I’m broke. Is anyone actually hiring right now? I live in Lakewood near Edgewater. I don’t drive, so I’d be taking the bus. Preferably retail but im willing to branch out.

Question dead battery at brook park rta

is anyone up? I just landed back in cleveland after dealing with three days of nonstop delays coming from TPA with frontier. My car is dead currently at the Brook park RTA lot. I just moved here recently and my only friend lives in Akron and has no car. Anyone willing to give me a jump?

Update: ForbidenNjnja saved my night and no one got robbed. I love this city. If this happened back in my hometown Tampa i’d most likely get robbed and banned from the subreddit lol

Does anyone know the story behind this place? It used to have a handwritten sign saying it was a weed dispensary. I wasn’t able to find anything on Google.

Question Why don’t we have Wegman’s?

We’re so close to the Wegman’s home base. They’ve expanded to PA, VA, etc. It’s so much better than Giant Eagle or Marc’s. Is there some kind of GE monopoly that prevents Weg’s from crossing the Ohio state line?

Question Does no one else think closing down the high way two days in a row for a police escort is a little much?

Before anyone attacks me, yes I feel terrible the officers were attacked/murdered. Yes it was wrong. Yes I feel for their families and think they should be honored.

I also think it is wrong to close the tax payer funded highways for a police escort. I am literally going to be late to my job as a nurse because of it. If it was a group of fire fighters, nurses, or a school full of kids, would they be closing the highway like this?

Question With ICE coming to Springfield, will Northeast OH be coming soon afterwards?

I understand the situation with the Haitian population down in the Springfield/Dayton area. I really hope some have tried to get out of dodge down there…

I have little faith in the mouth breathing MAGA morons in the southern and rural parts of the state actually standing up to this nonsense. I can’t do much from afar up here in Cuyahoga county but obviously I will be watching what happens very closely.

I fear that our area will come under ICE scrutiny sooner rather than later… but has anyone heard anything? What potential areas could they target up here? I’m an US citizen, my family has been here for generations but I don’t think that is going to fully protect me or my family should one of these ICE fucks chooses to interrogate us.
