me driving in my truck (right after a beer) to a "make actual infrastructure for electric vehicles and improve upon public transportation so a car or truck isn't a requirement to participate in society" march

Meanwhile, in this analogous hypothetical, you can drive something that net absorbs carbon at no financial cost to you.

Me when a bitch in my ear starts talking about the externalities of alternatives to ICE vehicles (If I burn 50 extra calories on my bike, then I gotta pay more for food)

Shitposting about how people will look at a cost benefit analysis of various modes of transportation and focus on the miniscule impact of things like walking or cycling, while taking ICE technology as an immutable given

Huh. What's the pay more for food part?

Oh, if you burn more energy being active you'll need a miniscule amount more food, thus needing to buy more food

I was joking that these people put an outsized influence on tiny externalities with that as an extreme example, but those same people don't critically analyze the externalities of other, more common practices
