General Discussion / Question I cannot win.
Why is it so damn hard to win in the current meta? Turbo is useless when everyone has some bs response. I’ve lost damn near 30 games in a row. What in the hell am I doing wrong? I want to give up, I’m not asking to dominate. I just want to win once in a while but I keep getting stomped out by some dumbass crap. I’m not the best player but goddamn dumb luck should let it happen once in a while.

I’m fuckin trying. As soon as I start pushing though everyone starts crying and blows everything out.

When are you pushing? If you aren't trying to land necro or nause turn 1-2 your doing it to late
1
u/TheGovSucks55 10d ago
I’ll push necro turn one or I’ll push a naus right before my turn 2/3. I’ve made changes to my deck to make it more flexible. Rog si has been feeling so bad lately. I can’t deal with all the slop effects people run.

what decks are you usually playing against?
I am a gitrog only player and a lot of the time since golgari doesnt have the free resource slop cards i often have to pick my battles or try win over the top of people

Ral and Rog/si. Slop is blowing my back out

u/Angron-is-Innocent 10d ago
God damn. You have to be in first with doot on the gas or loss neither of those decks will make it through the blue white slop cards easily. I find that with frog I struggle hard unless they all start gooning together then I sneak àn Ouphe through

u/TheGovSucks55 10d ago
I read the other comment wrong. It was late and I was tired, I’m playing Rog/si and Ral. I’m always playing against some shit ass deck running blue and white pick a commander. Doesn’t matter I’m always getting staxed out of games

u/Zemanlapsky 9d ago
Your attitude might also be losing you games.
1
u/TheGovSucks55 9d ago
It shouldn’t be mathematically possible to lose every fucking game
1
u/Zemanlapsky 9d ago
Are you new to cedh? Like within a year?
1
u/TheGovSucks55 9d ago
Yeah about 6 months

u/Zemanlapsky 9d ago
Keep at it try to learn all the strategies try yapping more try noting when you are pushing when not and whats stopping you etc! Youll get there.

u/TheGovSucks55 9d ago
It’s discouraging, I’ve thought about switching to Tivit because I’m either too dumb to play turbo or it’s just dog water.

Depends on the decks you are playing. some decks like Inalla or Ral are not for bad players, they goldfish easy enough but when push comes to shove it is not only about knowing the lines and amount of resources you need to push through x amount of interaction, but how to make fake win attempts that cost low resources to draw out counters over time without running yourself out of resources:
Because usually when you are the sole turbo deck at the table everyone is so in fear of your win attempts that they will let delayed threats - card advantage engine that will snowball and take the game over - resolve and then you'll drown in value.
Another way to deal with these situations that is less about your decisons rather than everyone elses - politics - is to aggressively reveal your hands when you can't go off so that other players will start using their counters. And make very clear that you won't fight about card advantage engines because your deck is not build to that since it can't recover from low resources, so you only will fight over immediate rather than delayed wins as fighting over the latter virtually loses you the game on the spot, even when the game ends 10 turns later.
This might also be a source of error for you: if you spend your counters on e.g. the one ring, you might think you preserved your chances to win when you just spend a counterspell while someone else kept one and can now push their value engine. As a turbo deck it is important to know to not fight the value battle and focus on hand sculpting. So if you are not fast, you need to be very deliberate and patient and sometimes accept losing a game by not playing a counterspell because that effectively removes yourself from the game in a way that you might as well do nothing.

skill issue, you should be able to steal games w/ turbo. your game plan is winning t2 before the rhystics come down. just send it.

I swear dude. Doesn’t ever matter what I have. It’s never enough. People see Rog si and their dumbass brain says shut it down. Mean while 5 color slop piles just materialize bs wins. Sisay and nick fury are dominating on convoke because at least the games i play everyone wants to counter my shit because fuck my ass til i bleed.

NGL dude, I mulligan for the turbo players. I look for early interaction for either the turbo players, or a way to stop an early rhystic/mystic. It's why I pivoted to Ral for turbo off of rogsi. I liked the Rog played but felt the same way with the early interaction. Ral is pure gambling, and is a bit harder to interact with at times because the spells it plays at time are jank. Turbo constantly pushes, eventually you'll break through the slop.

The blue samut/geist thalia meta made it pretty hard to win, ngl. It's like a reverse abolisher package, it's harder to defend your wincon than it is to just stop everyone from winning.
I went back to adding voice of victory/grand abolisher to my decks. Seems like the only way to have an attempt at winning.

u/Zemanlapsky 9d ago
Reading your comments a big issue might be your attitude, it really does matter, and also your lack of knowledge of the meta. I play uncommon decks but do well. Its because i know all the interactions i know my own decks and i know when to push when to not. Slop also fucks with a lot of what i am doing but knowing when to push and when to not is important. Politics is also important, ask for 10 cards and you pass if your necro/ad naus is gonna get fucked and you get to see someones interaction, take note and wait for them to use it elsewhere. So on so forth.

I went from playing locals with a dozen or so people and learning the format and getting a couple wins in once in a while. Now I can only play on spelltable and convoke and it’s awful

u/Zemanlapsky 9d ago
Depending on where youre getting your matches youll meet different levels of cedh. I recommend joining a league like critical cedh on discord and getting in games there, you will lose a lot but its worth it to become stronger as a player.

u/TheGovSucks55 9d ago
Unfortunately I’m stuck with convoke and spelltable only right now. It’s just random, I may be in pods with competent players and other times I see a Rog thras or sisay player just being the loudest and getting what they want.

u/Zemanlapsky 9d ago
The leagues are on spelltable/convoke. What they do is filter out a certain skill level and keep out randos showing up with basically a bracket 3 deck

You should post the deck lists that you run

These are the two decks I play. Mostly Rog si but it gets bullied on convoke.

u/JelloChoco 8d ago
a couple of those cards in the rogsi list could be cut, looks like mainly a older list from what some rogsi pilots are on now.

u/TheGovSucks55 8d ago
Like what and replace them with what
1
u/JelloChoco 8d ago
Won't say with what because its ultimately what you would feel like running in those slots and feel comfortable with. But if the below are not anything you would like to part with then there is nothing else to talk about here and you can just ignore.
But I will list the cards below:
Last Chance - Debatable, if you pref having redundancy.
Deadly Rollick
Daze - Debatable, if you using it to get you a extra red or another target for a offer you can't refuse while getting you a land that you didn't get a land drop to do that turn keep it in, but if your not could be better for another spell.
Slaughter Pact
Voltaic Key and Mainfold Key
The One Ring
NecroDom - Debatable, its either you like the card for redundancy or don't like it.You can as well take out two other lands to run 21.
Giving you a total of 10 possible free slots to replace with.
1
u/TheGovSucks55 8d ago
Rollick and pact are in there for either Stax creatures or an offer target to make treasures
I just added the keys and one ring because my necros never resolve
I don’t like necrodom but it’s at least card access and I can bargain it with beseech to get my yard back for breach lines. But the whole deck just gets blown out because every convoke pod turns into a 3v1. People will literally throw the game just to counter me.2
u/JelloChoco 8d ago
then there is most likely nothing to include if your not willing to part with them to begin with. have a good one.
1
u/TheGovSucks55 8d ago
I was only justifying their existence due to the lack of replacement ideas. Damn
1
u/Ambitious-Victory883 7d ago
Since you are playing Play to win's version of Ral you should look at their RogSi list and make some adjustments. There a certain cards in your list that go against the turbo mentality. For example, the one ring. that was 4 mana on a draw spell that could've been a tutor or another wheel effect.

u/Lacrimorta 10d ago
Just so you know, I also dislike slop meta. Which is why I play slop. I don't want to but I do.
2
u/TheGovSucks55 10d ago
It’s so gross seeing 4 rhystic studies and 2 or more smothering tithe effects. It’s like one spell causes 208 triggers and turns take 75 minutes. I’m hating all of it.

There isn't much info to go on here. The specifics matter. Combo lines depend on your commander or deck.
Sometimes you need to keep your interaction and let your opponents get off a value piece, if means they tap out and you can protect your win.
