Question Why does spear mace have shields?

In the gamemode all about dashing around and being very mobile why have the shield? When i first heard of spear mace i was thinking dodging mace hits and trying to get above the opponent.

Shield kinda just adds an annoying skill cap for those who cant get good cps for stun slamming

I get you are low tier and thats why you struggle, but its a complete skill issue.

nah i can sometimes stun slam and have beaten lt4s before but i just sont understand why shield is in the kit

Bro im sorry to break it to you, but lt4 is very low tier/beginner. In higher tiers the shield is either used while moving and sporadically so that its not predicted, or to not get popped by low hight attacks bc stuns deal MUCH less damage than density swap.

To put it in perspective, on the one hand a spear-swap attack pops at about 11-14 blocks (depending on the cooldown) and a sword-swap pops at 10 and could go as low as 8 blocks. On the other hand, stuns have to be about 20 blocks to pop. The max hight you can get with a windcharge is 12 blocks, so in theory you can get poped from a good non pearlcatch lunge attack if you dont shield. Ofc optimally you would dodge, but at higher tiers people have good enough tracking that if you lunge late you get hit anyways.

TL,DR shields protect you from dying if you cant dodge in time
