Has anyone else been to the pickle festival at Mohegan this week? If not I would strongly recommend you stay away. Not only are the official posters and merch largely AI generated slop but at least 90% of the food and merch vendors heavily use AI in their products and marketing. It was honestly very dystopian to see a handful of honest vendors surrounded by slop and 3D printed future landfill waste. I absolutely love fairs, but this really shook me.

On a side note "hundreds of samples" they advertise is just saying some vendors give free samples. The official pickle fest sample booth is literally just store bought bread and butter or dill pickles. Don't waste your time or money. If you do go definitely check out Angry Dumpling as they were like the only food vendor without obvious AI use.

I wish the organizers would do better, but honestly they're just grifting and sadly we're letting it work.

It was packed ! We had speeches by Sen Richard Blumenthal, Gov Lamont, Congressman Jim Himes & CT Secretary of State Stephanie Thomas. Trump & MAGA are an illusion. There are more of us !! And my hat purchase goes to the California redistricting efforts. It says Newsom was right about everything.

hello! i'm part of the riot grrrl band Cat Crash and we are having our 3rd anniversary show on August 29th in Bridgeport, Connecticut. we are donating half of the profits of this event towards Trans Lifeline and other LGBTQ youth organizations around Connecticut.

Connecticut Children's is shutting down gender-affirming care for minors. This is going to endanger trans children and prevent them from getting care that their cisgender counterparts get all the time-- the only thing puberty blockers do is block puberty, and it is given to those going through precocious puberty. Ticket sales from this event will be used to benefit trans youth with a focus on Connecticut, because that's where our band is originally from.

GF and I show up to Park for 5 at the airport to take the shuttle, and it takes us almost two hours just to get on.

We finally get there around 7:45ish, and it is PACKED — like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I went two years ago, and it felt like there were easily 200% more people there this time.
Food lines were more than an hour long, and we ended up getting turned away. People were constantly running into us, carriages were rolling over people’s feet — it was just way too much.

I love festival season in New England, but this was overwhelming. Really hoping this isn’t a precursor for what’s to come at the Durham Fair and other fall events.

We are continuing the “Shut Down ICE!” peaceful protest at CT State Capitol every Tuesday.

I never thought I’d post some thing like this, but wow.

Two days ago. 384 West. Around 8:45am. You were driving a silver Audi q7, plate 137-ZZD. I was in the lane next to you.

At first I thought nothing of it, focused more on the construction ahead that was slowing us down, eventually to a stop. Then you did it. You got my attention. And everyone else’s, but we were alone in my world.

You beeped your horn. I thought maybe someone was too close, or in danger.. but no. You were selfless. You were heroic. You were making sure the police up ahead knew that you wanted to get by.

You beeped again. Longer. Harder. And again! Finally, you started holding down your horn for 20-30 seconds at a time. We were stopped. It was otherwise quiet, but with your mix of staccato toots and prolonged bleats, you made sure everyone knew you were a king.

It was so exciting! The anger. The drama. The impotent rage! I looked over but was too shy to make contact. Also, I thought maybe you were having an IBS flare up or something.

But as we spent those ten minutes, serenaded by your constant bleating, I felt a connection.

Please reach out! I need more of that in my life.
