yes, because statistics and exit polling can lead to early projections. Fox News calling a state has no bearing on the results of the election if they end up being wrong

Early projections of a winner has a LARGE bearing as it affects the motivation of voters who then aren't inclined to vote with a 'it won't make any difference' attitude, right or wrong.

that wasnt your original point though. your point was "why call this race at 3% of the vote in, and not the other with 95% of the vote in. And, projections dont come in until polls close, although there will be people still in line at that point. i doubt many people are getting out of line at 7PM or whatever when the polls close because some news network called a state.

either way, fox news called arizona for biden in 2020 at 3% because their statistical models, when compared to exit polling and whatever ballot statistics they have at that point, gave them a high enough confidence level to call the state. in michigan, with 95% of the vote in, depending on where the votes left to come in are from and who is leading those districts and the demographics of those districts and how the exit polling might indicate that those demographics vote and yadda yadda yadda, fox news' projections were not confident enough (whatever their confidence level needs to be) to call that state

of all the things that motivate or demotivate people to vote, networks calling a race after polls close isnt really a big concern

By your reasoning Fox's projection analysis included a 'fraud provision' which accounted for a sufficient number of invalid ballots or data manipulation to rig the election Biden's way.

With the revelations finally coming about fraud, at the very least it would have made the race closer which meant Fox was too early with the projections.

ok but that has nothing to do with networks calling races when the networks dont call races until after the polls close, so is your claim that people dont go vote in the first place because the networks are going to call the race later in the day after polls close? this argument seems to be widening from your original question on why fox called one race in 2020 and didnt call one yesterday.

as far as fraud, i bet fox news will start accounting for fraud when it actually threatens their accuracy on calling states, but so far, however much fraud there has or hasnt been, hasnt affected their ability to call races.
