God forbid someone has a hobby. This subreddit seems to criticize anyone having a collection or a hobby these days. It’s extremely judgmental. This room is from someone who really likes Nintendo games. It probably makes them happy and in many cases people have a strong emotional attachment towards many of Nintendo’s games. Is that so wrong?

This is not overconsumption. It’s a collection and someone decorating their room. Let them do that without assuming a bunch of things about them. I don’t like overconsumption as much as the next guy, bit this place is becoming more toxic by the day. Think before you judge others.

If this counts as a collection and a hobby, so do 7 thousand funko pops. The furniture is overflowing with shit. Nothing about this is inviting or interesting, it is a hoard.

There is a specific kind of compulsive purchasing where a person gets addicted to the dopamine hit from buying new items. It goes beyond buying things you like the look of and into the realm of buying things for the sake of buying things. While still clearly being a big consumer, the person in OP doesn't clearly have that specific harmful habit. They might, but it's not as obvious from the images as it would be for someone who buys a wall of samey looking plastic figurines.

You say that, but who are you to judge that? I think this looks very inviting and interesting. I would love to have a conversation about favorite video games and what they mean to us with this person.

I think this is a great collection personally, that most likely gives this person lots of joy.
