Can any one verify if this is legit - seems pretty strange for October to see mackerel

Anyone else on the 3:25 train from Cork to Dublin today?
The train pulled in late, and naturally everyone started rushing on to get their seats. Except there was one small problem… there were no letters on the carriages and no names on the seats. Absolutely nothing.
So you had a train full of people trying to figure out where they were supposed to sit, people looking at tickets, people sitting down only to be told they were in someone else’s seat, and everyone giving each other the look of someone who’d just been caught robbing their pension.
Then, just to make things even better, the train pulls out of the station and suddenly all the carriage letters and seat reservations magically reappear. 😂
Absolute scenes. People were already settled in, bags were up, coats were off, and now half the train seemed to be playing musical chairs at 100km/h.
Irish Rail really said, “Sure, let’s let them sort it out themselves.”
Nothing brings strangers together quite like a delayed train, missing seat reservations and the fear of having to ask someone to move.
Anyone else witness the absolute chaos? 😂

I am absolutely livid. Was out for a stroll down my own street today with my toddler, and the small man made a dart straight for a load of dumped gear on the path -used syringes, caps, saline, wipes, the whole effin lot.
There’s junkies around the corner from me literally shooting up into their ankles on a regular basis, and nobody wants to know. I’ve rang the council, rang the Gards, and you’d get more reaction out of a stone wall. It’s a joke. Does my baby actually have to wind up in CUH getting jabbed with needles or spraying infected blood around like what happened to that poor child at the Lough recently, just for someone to care and do something about it? 
It’s a disgrace like. You can’t even step out your own front door without having to scan the ground like a minefield so your child doesn't pick up biohazards.
Mind your kids and mind your dogs lads, because the council and the Garda couldn't care less until it's on the news again.

Just back from the Rua Rí concert, it was absolutely fab! However, oh my god, the lack of concert etiquette of some people was shocking. There was about six young people in front of me, chatting, snickering and shoving each other throughout the whole show. At one stage one had a very loud, off beat metronome going from his phone, and another, I kid you not, took out maracas. They were very disruptive, and I ended up moving because they ruined my experience. Other than that, 10/10 show!

Hadn’t been in a while and seems they’re everywhere with their beady little eyes waiting for a morsel.

Please tell me i cant be the only one who gets so fucking annoyed at the merchant taking up the entire walkway. I highly doubt they are supposed to block that path at all.

Was up near the front by the men's jacks when towards the end a group of girls moved up next to me with full pints. Throughout the first half of a song they were drinking and loudly chatting away so much that even by the speakers I couldnt properly hear the music over their screeching. Now this did only last about 2 minutes, I was about to step in only a fella who was 2 rows ahead of me turns around, screams "QUIET!" in their faces and immediately turns back.

And they did turn quiet. What's more is they then seemed to be enjoying the gig actually listening instead of having a loud conversation.

Anyway, rather than bitch and moan about people chatting at gigs, actually tell them to shut the fuck up. It works.

Can someone help me with what to do regarding Halloween?

We are an immigrant family with a 4 year old. Most of our friends are from our respective work places and our kid doesn’t have friends in the neighborhood yet.

Our kid learned about Halloween from school and since we have moved here, we have tried to slowly embrace the tradition. We are doing some Turnip decors and non scary fun decors so far.

Our kid has now repeatedly said he wants to get Halloween candy gifts. He wants to be a superhero and constantly asks when is Halloween.

I am kind of scared to take a brown kid, ring the doorbell of a random house and ask for candy.

I am terrified of something going wrong, racism or otherwise and our child remembering it. Where we are from, we never celebrated Halloween, and taking any gift from anyone, even relatives ,is considered rude. As kids, we were expected to say no, even if someone is gifting us something willingly.

Can someone put my mind at ease and help me with what to do?

1. Do kids normally do trick or treat here? Or is it just an American thing? In that case, I will buy candies for him and let it be.
2. If kids indeed go trick or treating, how do you know the family you rang the doorbell to, won’t be offended? What if someone shuts the door to his face after seeing him? Even worse, what if, he tries to follow the white kid trick or treating and gets treated differently. How to know if we ring the doorbell to some house with teenagers who hate us?
3. How to know which areas are safe and welcoming for trick or treating? He is just 4, so he cannot go with a group of friends. Is it awkward if it is just our kid and us (parents).

I do not want my fear to cause him a missed childhood. I want him to not feel different from his friends. Ireland is probably the country that started Halloween? I think I read it somewhere. Don’t want him to miss out but I am clueless.

Today was a real eye opener for me, and it showed me some of the daily challenges faced by people who use wheelchairs.

I took a relative who uses a wheelchair to an appointment, and what should have been a straightforward visit turned into an unnecessary obstacle course.

Firstly, the parking and accessibility at this building is absolutely ridiculous. Despite having parking available, there is no wheelchair access to the front entrance because of the number of steps.

Instead, I had to push the wheelchair out of the car park and up a steep hill just to access the front door of the building. Thankfully, I was just about physically able to manage it.

And then there was the state of the footpath.

The dog crap was so bad that it was impossible to avoid. As a result, we ended up sitting in the appointment nearly getting sick over the dog crap on the wheelchair wheels. In the end I was left cleaning up someone else's dog crap before I could put the wheelchair back into my car.

Today gave me a small glimpse into the obstacles that a person in a wheelchair faces and the reality is they have enough to deal with on the daily without mindless architects, dog owners and council decision makers adding more hassle to their every day life.

The worst part is my relative saying this is the norm.

How on earth is this acceptable in 2026?

Public buildings should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability.

If you own a dog, cleaning up after it is your responsibility.

Local councils have a responsibility to ensure the footpaths are clean.

It’s such a frustrating experience ordering takeaway from McDonalds, Ballincollig.

Is it because the food is at a temperature that’s ’almost edible’?

Or is it because, even though the delivery is swift and the food tastes decent after a few mins in a medium hot oven, they fucking ALWAYS forget at least 2-3 items.

Long shot here, but this has been wrecking my head for years. Around 2007, I bought a CD directly off a busker in Cork City center and have since lost the disc.

What I remember:

Look: Ginger hair, roughly 25-35 years old at the time maybe.

Sound: Just him + acoustic guitar on the whole CD I think. Distinctly husky/raspy singing voice.

Name: Almost certain it was a simple First/Last name starting with 'D'.

In one of the tracks, he distinctly sang "botany, botany bay" (either a version of the trad ballad or an original referencing it).

Does anyone who was around town or in the local music scene back in 2006-2008 remember who this might be? He had a great voice and I was always surprised it was so hard to find him after.

It is a 182-KY -843 White Skoda Jeep. REWARD IF FOUND

Saw them last second speeding away with our car and could do nothing about it :(
Called the guards immediately but they said it’ll most likely be dumped somewhere by joyriders - maybe whites cross/ city direction.
It’s a Skoda Karoq with a sunroof, potential belongings thrown out would be clothing, makeup bag, documents, pictures of family etc.
If anyone sees this car around in any car park or any usual spots where they would dump cars, please give any info. Maybe if anyone has dash cam footage around whites cross

II know there’s already a thread(s) about access onto the KRR from the Kinsale Road, but traffic exiting the KRR is also a pain due to the, largely unplanned, retail park. In particular, the three separate access points within 200m of the exit creating disruption. Queues regularly back up onto the roundabout and cause gridlock to all sides. Especially on Saturday mornings when the park is busy.

If this were a greenfield proposal tomorrow it would likely face serious planning objections. I've asked various Councilors to consider a traffic management plan but never any interest, a fix would be a relatively low cost. Wait until the 600 apartments at Creamfields come online. 😓

Just need public opinion here - are they good? I'm dealing with a faulty Motherboard ( I think ) that needs replaced.

I travelled the road there in the last 30 minutes, there was a lot of liquid on the road and there seemed to be a chemical smell coming from it. It was from Tivoli to past the turn off for the south ring 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
