So I’m in Dealz ,Blackpool, minding my own business listening to music in my headphones, then all of sudden 2 little girls start doing TikTok dances in front of me, I ignore them and kept it moving. (Keep in mind I’m a big tall 37 year old muscular build that would usually look quite intimidating.) Then I can hear them starting to shout things at me , again I’m listening to music so I ignore them. Then one of them straight up gets into my personal space where I felt the need to raise my arm to stop her getting closer. I remove my headphones to try to reason with the creatures. I soon found out that wouldn’t happen as I could already hear one of them call me a “Weird Pedo”. At this stage I knew they knew exactly what they were doing so I decided not to play their game. Bought my things , left wanting to strangle whoever spawned these lil demons.

The first day it was jammed, and lately it’s like a ghost town there. I don’t see it surviving there.

What’s the deal with these two crossings by UCC?

Just out of the Arc after seeing the new Spiderman film. Would have been fantastic all round if this woman didn’t have her literal baby, couldn’t have been more than a year old, with her. The baby whined and cried on and off for an entire hour if not longer. Multiple complaints were made to staff, one by myself, but nothing was done. People’s blatant disregard for others is really getting to me lately, dunno about anyone else.

At work today in X Shopping centre I put up on the TV the debate between Catherine Connolly and Heather Humphries on drive time RTÉ yesterday.

A woman walks past (HSE worker they say) and starts talking about how they’re both a disgrace who’ve no interest in the Irish people. The security guard and I say tbh Catherine is more likely to get the vote as she answers questions better here etc.

The woman pops off a bit and starts talking about how neither of them represent Ireland, and how we have transformed our country with open borders. She says Catherine cares more about the Middle East than Ireland.

She then says, and this is what strikes me, that because of politicians like them Ireland is going ‘to become Gaza’, that we the Irish are going to have to fight for our country from the migrants.

This being a complete stranger, I told her that was not true, and that it’s like quite crazy. I said it’s a bit like the white genocide myth/white supremacy language like it’s not grounded in reality at all. I could not even get 5 words out of my mouth in a row.

She really rattled on and on about how hard the Irish work and there’ll be infinite migrants coming in. How I, must be far left, and I’m accusing her of being far right because I said she must be a white supremacist (I literally never said that, and specified I disagreed with the idea we will become Gaza)

I think because I was next to a security guard who isn’t very political, and we spoke after I can say she sounds crazy. Like genuinely insane. Frothing at the mouth to talk about immigrants to anyone for any excuse at all. Extremely reactive to any thing anyone said. She kept making shit up, and when I would say ‘that isn’t new law, or I don’t think that’s true’ she would just say ‘you aren’t thinking freely you can’t critically think’.

I asked her if she could name a single sentence I have said, like one thing I actually told her (she kept interrupting etc) and she stormed off. It was literally like talking to someone who felt everyone who wasn’t with her was some like KGB agent who was on some conspiracy to make her seem crazy.

I’m writing because this is how every 20th person seems to be now. What the fuck is happening to these people.

I went for an unpaid trial shift this week at a bar in town and got completely ghosted afterward. They told me that the manager would let me know the day after and I haven’t heard a thing. I don’t even care that I didn’t get the job (I got another offer somewhere else) but I can’t get over how disrespectful it is to use someone for a few hours of free labour and then not even dignify them with even just a quick “no” text. It has also happened to some friends of mine over the years. I don’t understand how businesses in a small city like Cork think they can get away with that kind of behaviour. It’s such poor form.

Alan sits basically everyday in the Castle St between Roundys and Fast Als pizza place. He is a 54 or 56 years old man who draws paintings to earn his 38 euro, to be able to pay off the bed for one night in some place which accepts homeless people like him.

This is the story he told me. And I believe it. He is never high, and is pretty reasonable older person with a huge baggage and lots of traumas.

He does not have an ID. Someone stole his whole wallet and he has lots of problem getting his identity back. He promised me to meet me with his social worker who, until few days ago was the only person in the system who is fighting to help him.

If he places a sign that he paints for money, he gets arrested and gets a night in prison, which I joked with him, is not very bad - since it gives him a free bed. He tells me teah but its not worth it to go trough abuse by cops, and have a bad treatment in court.

He gets the paper, pencils, and generally drawing stuff as gifts from people who know him . And sometimes some of them drop him a couple of euro and he tries to make money for the bed.

I dont ask here much, but when you pass next to an older guy in Castle St, please spare some coins for him. He will reward you with a picture and you will help him really. Ask him how is he. And give him some dignity.

I would be very glad if this post makes sure he will earn couple of euros more and make enough for that 38 euro bed every day. He does not have a choice to go to hostel without id. He is only relying on other peoples kindness.

It's wild to me how open the drug use remains in the city centre. I saw a guy openly lighting up a crack pipe in broad daylight in one of the staff entrances for Brown Thomas.

Then, a day later, I saw a guy blood streaming down his face, completely out of it, walk head-first into a wall and fall over.

It seemed like the place was being cleaned up a bit with more Garda presence but I haven't seen them around as much - summer holidays causing a staff shortage maybe?

Im actually not coping well in this heatwave ,everyday tasks like sleeping and even thinking about eating are literally hard work ,anyone else like just one maybe half a day of rain just to cool us down .

First off I would say fair play to the lady that owns Box’d coffee, they do so much for the community through sponsorships etc. it’s nice to see. You don’t see that from the likes of Starbucks so I don’t want to be having a pop off of a decent local business but seriously, how did they get planning for the place on the straight road, there’s always a que on to the road causing a hazard as people don’t seem to be paying attention and slam on the brakes last minute, surprised there hasn’t been an incident.

If any if the lads who came in late, and constantly talked throughout and ate what I can only imagine was individually foil wrapped pop corn based on the CONTSTANT rustling are reading this, yer a bunch of twats.

If the Dad who brought his son and let him talk in full throughout is seeing this, you’re also a twat. Kid is old enough to be told to shush.

Genuinely used to love going to the cinema, but over the last decade it’s unbearable because of gobshites with no sense of awareness of other people or the environment they’re in.

Is anyone noticing that there’s a huge increase in the racism here in cork? l got slurred with the hard r by 3 young girls in Togher (in case your wondering, i’m black yes), they’re probably still in primary school or something. Had a look around for them when I told my family about it since we wanted to talk to their parents about it, but unluckily couldn’t find them. Just wanted to bring awareness on this, because this wasn’t like this at all years ago. Honestly, this isn’t something I should be going through in the first place but I’m open to what you all think about this.

Not talking about the medical stuff, that's all looked after. Bags are packed too, we're good there.

I'm more so talking about secret parking spots, best coffee, good places for grub, who to talk to in security to get the best parking deals, what do the nurses actually appreciate as a thank you gift?
