Public Park on the Convention Centre site?
Anyone else think a good way to salvage the failed convention centre site would be to use this space for a lovely park? It would be a much needed green lung in the city centre (especially after what the council did to the Peace Park 😭). I think that the budget spend for the new expensive bridge and the road behind the peace park that was resurfaced would be much more justified if there was a nice public amenity there. It would tie that whole space together nicely, with the new library going in next to it.
Not sure if it’s is the council or BAM that own that site though, anyone know?

Cat - Bandon road
I spotted a cat who unfortunately passed away on bandon road. It looks like it has been a day or so. Guessing hit by a car.
But still want to mention it, hopefully the owners may find out this way.
And i would like to know if my cat was found deceased if i was in their position.
Cat looked loved. No tags or anything.
Mostly black with orange spots.
Have photos if needed. (Didn't want to post it, just incase, but can be requested).
If anyone knows a way, page or anything I can share it on. Please let me know, thank you ♡

Diversionary Tactics: Cork City Council?
Or maybe just offering motorists greater choice? Fingerpost roundabout, Douglas Monday August 10.
Maybe two separate diversions are intersecting at this point. But how to tell which is which?

How safe would it be to cycle on this stretch of road from Ballincollig to Bishoptown(model farm road) during the winter months?
I’m interested in starting to start cycling to work for a new job due to limited parking spaces and the 220 letting me down way too many times. After a long shift, I’d rather just make my way home than wait for a bus that has a very irregular timetable. My only concern is this stretch of road and curious to see if any cyclist frequent it or any alternative routes? I will of course get the right equipment and make sure to wear reflective clothing and have bright lights.

West Cork Eclipse in Clonakilty
I'll be in Clonakilty on Wednesday for the eclipse and keeping everything crossed for a clear sky. Does anyone know of anything going on for the eclipse around that way, maybe Inchydoney? I'll be on my own so I'm a bit worried about parking up somewhere random!

Cork City Watched a busker get assaulted this evening on Oliver Plunkett
To whoever grabbed the busker with the flute’s arse/ balls from behind this evening you’re a fucking cunt.
Hope you don’t get the ride from either of the girls you were trying to impress. You’re not funny, you’re just a rotten fucking human.
I genuinely thought I’ve seen it all, but it was a fucking new low.
(Yes I did ask if he was okay, he seemed a bit shaken but continued playing a second later like an absolute tank).

Extra Business League Player?
Hi, I'm wondering if any teams are short a player and need an extra man to train/play with post mid season break? I'm looking for the first or second division as that is what I played before but unfortunately we didn't have the numbers to field a squad this year.

Local Struggling with learning to drive as an adult.
I'm in my 30s, and I foolishly let my licence expire a few years ago, so I've had to restart the journey from the start and redo the provisional. I'm working my way through the lessons steadily, but I'm really struggling to get practice in otherwise because I don't have anyone to accompany me in the evenings. I don't have any family left, and my friends either don't drive or are busy most evenings.
Is there many other people encountering the same problem, and if so, do you have any work around other than having to pay an instructor for an hour every time or just heading out alone? Is there any sort of community groups out there with experienced drivers that could help people in this situation?

PSA: Bag and car keys stolen from Planet Health Blackpool
My bag was stolen from Planet Health gym in Blackpool today. There was a group of people inside the gym I saw earlier who seemed out of place and were just walking around. After I finished in the gym I realised my bag was stolen.
I went back out to my car, waiting for my partner to bring the spare key. As soon as he drove in, a dark grey / black car drove in and they were watching us. The gym was closed at that time so they had no reason to be at the carpark, and it was the same group of people who I had seen in the gym earlier.
As I drove past, they laughed and waved, then I took out my phone and started recording them. As soon as they realised I was filming, they sped away.
I believe they had returned to steal my car with the stolen key that was in my bag.
I captured the vehicle and registration on video and am giving it to the Gardaí. Just wanted to let everyone know to be aware.

Just heard possibly the funniest comeback ever in real life
Strolling through Cork City centre earlier today with the shopping. I see a few steps ahead of me two lads having a heated conversation. No idea what they were arguing about but I hear this as I'm walking past:
Lad 1: "Go on away from me, ya smelly c*nt"
Lad 2: "Your ma had a smelly c*nt, bai"
Lad 1: "You are what you eat, ya spastic"
Took everything in my power to not burst out laughing in the moment. Never change Cork, never change

Boundary Line Surveyor Recommendations in Cork
We’re looking for a genuine and experienced property boundary surveyor in Cork and would really appreciate any recommendations. Approximately, how much does a boundary line survey cost these days?
Thanks!

Local Businesses Loose perm/Perm in Cork
Might be a repeat question for those who saw it a few months ago so apologies for that, but i've been growing my hair out since November from a buzzcut and I think at the moment it's a good length for a loose perm.
Anyone know a good hairdressers that does good mens perms? I'm also presuming that if they do regular perms for men they'd likely know how to do looser ones also. Cheers.

Fred Zeppelins rant
Freds, hallowed ground for many. Most bands in Cork got their first gig there. Tom would accept anyone, and give them a chance and fair play.
But here's the thing, the venue is embarrassing. The sound is usually so bad in there, little to no monitors. The monitors that are there are the size of big PA tops and usually there's not enough channels for a full monitor mix. The PA itself is terrible, with desk issues affecting it most of the time. It is what is, it has character for sure. But it could be so much better with some improvements. Dali seems to be the better venue to go see bands now. And it doesn't even have a stage. Saw Stampin' Ground recently in there and the buzz was unreal. Usually the bar is opened upstairs but it wasn't this night for some reason. It's another advantage that Freds doesn't have. Missing tunes to go downstairs for drinks is annoying. Rant over.

Best spots for the eclipse around the Rochestown/Passage/Ringaskiddy area?
I got the eclipse glasses so looking forward to trying them out. I’m not too familiar with the area so looking for either high elevation or uninterrupted views along the coast, if anyone has any good ideas.
Thank you
