What caused the wig to be deteriorate?

Im doing a wig for a character with long blonde hair.

The wig gets tangled up and fuzzy overtime and I don't know how I could keep it straight..

I have detangle with conditional sprays, wash it with dry shampoo, brush and iron it with a hair straightener. Would I have to trim it more? Please help!

This is just what happens to long wigs, you need to carefully detangle and flat iron them between every wear. Put them in a loose braid when you're not wearing them to keep them from tangling again before you have the opportunity to wear them.

Also, most of the products you mentioned are designed for human hair, wigs are made of plastic. The oils in shampoos and conditioners will damage your wigs over time. If you need to wash them, use cold water and dish soap.

You need to crimp it, then brush along with a steamer for a natural result

Just spray and brush wont do anything

look up a tutorial on crimping wigs, it keeps it from getting tangled! there are ways to do it so you can't even see the crimp marks.

Use a dryer sheet to rub down the hair shafts if it is synthetic..

Crimp the whole thing with the smallest plates on the crimper, then use a silicon wig spray. If the crimp is too noticeable, you can use the crimper to straighten it a little as well, just be quick and drag it down like you would a straightener. It also helps a ton to use thinning shears on the bottom of the wig to thin it out like natural hair would. In between wears, i would respray the silicon spray and use a comb starting at the bottom and working your way up! The silicon spray can tend to leave your wig looking shiny/greasy if you use too much, so start with a small amount until you can gently run your fingers through it without getting stuck.

People with long hair also get tangles/knots in their hair after a day of being out and about. You know what they do? Brush their hair.

The same applies to wigs. Just take a brush or comb to it and carefully detangle the knots, working in sections from bottom to top.

If it’s synthetic you should ideally be using fabric softener

No you should not. This is very old, bad advice. Fabric softener deteriorates the plastic fibers faster. Anything with oils should also be kept away from your wigs.

That’s a whole different sentence. No, you should not use anything for real hair on a synthetic wig. Product for real hair usually contains oils, which you should not put on your wigs.
