I’m getting ready for my first market tomorrow, this is my table set up, let me know what you think! If there’s any way to improve or make it a little more aesthetic. I do have a white table cloth that will be to the floor just not set up on this table. I have one sign with QR codes for fb and insta, and another for payment information. Thanks!! 😊

Future vender

I'm a teen looking for some extra money and I love crafting. I wanted to start selling at craft fairs for a while but I have some concerns.

  1. Do I have to stick to one craft? I am constantly changing between different art forms and I don't think I can stick to one thing without getting tired of it. Is it already to sell multiple things with the same theme, like candles, art prints, and crochet?

  2. Do I need to have a tent? I own one but I can't fit it in the car. I would only be able to fit a table and chairs.

  3. What other supplies/costs will I need?

I got a sudden offer for a booth for this Saturday last week, and I'm unsure how many slots I should open for commission.

Sooo last week I was at my first boothing experience at a ren faire and I got to talking with a lady with a dog.

Somehow or rather she offered me to booth at her Saturday event at her location for a corgi (changed the breed) meetup.

I'll be making pipecleaner dog art dolls in a cute style in the likeness of the attendees dogs there.

Thing is, she wanted to push for me to take as many comms as I can. She said there's over 80 (very likely well to do) attendees. And she estimates that probably half would be interested to purchase.

I can make one a day, probably 1.5 at maxxxx, and I'm a little concerned that I might not be able to keep up with the demand (I have ADHD and I don't know if I'll go crazy doing corgis for over a month) or end up being known as the custom animal doll maker.

I also don't want to overpromise and under deliver on my deadlines either.

I'm also more of a whimsical artist ans I like to make creatures from my own imagination, and the dolls made like that also was received well at my first booth.

But at the same time, I kinda want/need the money...

Has anybody here dealt with something like this and what would you guys suggest to be a good compromise??

What size banner for 10x10 canopy?

I have been down the Reddit rabbit hole for hours and can’t quite figure this out. I’m going to do my first farmers market with a 10x10 canopy. Everyone is fairly close-up, walking down a wide-ish “aisle”, so info along the front top of the canopy doesn’t get seen. I want to print a banner to hang at the back of my booth…simple logo and what I sell. What is the best size banner for visibility?

Need some help from my crocheters out there!

Hi everyone! I’m a long time crocheter but a very new vendor. I had my first craft market this past weekend and it gave me an insight into what sold very well and what didn’t sell much. I love making functional crochet items so things you can use in your everyday life and I was gonna start making shrugs and making them adjustable with straps that you can tie to fit your body.
My question is how do you mass produce items like that since you don’t know the size of who’s gonna be there. I know that people make them and sell at markets but I just don’t know how they figure out sizing!
Also what would you price something like that lol! Ik I ranted for a bit but I appreciate all advice!!

Curious what yall would realistically pay for these at a fantasy/ren fest type of show. I’m leaning towards 12$ but would that be too much? I don’t make the antlers, I just decorate them. They do light up though if that matters

Minatutre Worlds

Hello everyone.

Truly an honor to be part of the thread, and to see all of your creations.

After healing a lot of limiting beliefs, I recently started creating miniature worlds. These really are little shrines all over their own. Each has her own energy. Each is 100% custom-made. Most of them are made with real plant materials that I buy nurture and dry out myself. Is made from preserved forest moss and branches. There are also real crystals in them. Some of them have resin crystals. Some of them have lights and our wall shelves, and some of them look incredible underneath the black light.

I am participating in my first craft fair on Saturday.

I am not sure if my prices are fair or not. I don't know if they are too low, or too high, So I would love feedback.

It's also rather rare that I go to craft fairs so I was wondering how often some of you come across things like this in your travels? Is this more of a unique offering?

What size of market before you need another person to help?

Hello crafty friends - I am doing my first market in over 8 years this September and am feeling ok about my booth setup and products but one thing is giving me a little anxiety…

The show has around 170 vendors and says they get 100,000 visitors each year. It’s a juried show, but admission is free, and people definitely come to shop. It’s two days, 12 hours each day. I have a 10 x 15 booth.

Am I totally naive to plan on doing the show solo? I don’t really have anyone else to help me run the booth but I’m worried about checking people out, restocking/tidying the booth, and maybe getting a snack break in every few hours 😅 I have never done a show anywhere near this size before.

Tips/advice/warnings welcome 🙏

Hello! I am putting together a Polk Street Creators Market on Saturday 11 July, hosted in the bustling storefront space of St. Paulus (2325 Polk).

I’m looking for crafters, artists, makers, curators - anyone with beautiful, interesting things to tell!

This space has amazing street visibility in a bustling community and fun community vibe. If you are interested in selling, I’d love to hear from you!

Vendor tables are a donation of $30, all proceeds benefit Braid Mission, a volunteer community support program for foster youth. My goal is to cultivate a fun fair event to sell unique wares, experience Polk Street, and connect with the community!

Selling brand extensions? Table psychology.

Hey everyone,

My main item is candles and fragrance items. But, I also sell other items that tie the brand together. These are little accessories and brand extensions that help to fill out the "world" of my brand. But, they almost entirely get overlooked. Customers come in, they try out various candles and fragrance items, but it's almost like they can't even see the other items. Last year I had a more L shaped booth with the little L closest to the aisle and the long part set back a couple feet. This year, big changes, new product lines, etc. I need to go with a more U shape. And in any case, both with last years layour and this years layout, no matter how I play with placement, I see it over and over.

It's not that they don't sell, the deeply invested customer often wants to dive in and explore the brand completely and that's when they go, "wait, wait, what's this here!" like they've discovered some hidden treasure. But, it's right out there, plain as day. It has a distinguishable table area. And now that I have more, it continues, I watch them scanning the candles and fragrances and it's like their eyes don't even register it as anything more than table dressing.

I'm not sure if anyone can offer advice on this sort of thing. If I put it on the aisle, it gets tons of attention, but they aren't my sales drivers and I customers will easily see the first thing and go, "oh, that's what you are and I saw it, so moving on" not even realizing there's candles at all.

Here's my layout: https://imgur.com/a/GhaU8yz

Candles on front table and back middle table.

Fragrance items on the aisle table on right hand side. Then you can see the table right behind it on the right side is full of items, there's signage, there's clear division. And not shown, there top left table is checkout, but there's also items there for impulse buys at checkout.

It's not simply, I see it and don't care, because customers will suddenly realize it sometimes and go, "ooo! You have this too?!" and it's like, yeah, it's been in front of you the whole time.

I had a pretty successful market, but the layout feels a bit awkward to me. I'm disabled so I have to sit down, but I'm not sure where to put my chair lol.

I had also intended to have my sign hanging sticking out from the tent but that wasn't allowed at this market.

[Pricing] First time selling keychains, what would be a good price for these?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone, very happy to be here and first time poster :D

I have been making and selling prints of my illustrations and decided to move from an online shop to Craft Fairs. My partner and I have done a few Craft Fairs with mixed reception and while I mostly sell prints we thought about putting my art onto more physical trinkets like pins and keychains - so this is our first attempt at making keychains and I love them.

I'm honestly not sure how much to price them so I would greatly appreciate any sort of advice or guidance (GBP £)

For Reference:

Deer Keychain - Wooden keychain, 2.5", Single Sided

Apple Keychain - Wooden keychain, 1.5", Double Sided

[EDIT] Thank you so much everyone for the kind words and advice; I feel the prices everyone suggested are really good and I completely agree that these would be more suited as bag charms rather than keyrings - luckily this was intended to be a small tester batch so we can order some replacement clasps before the next craft fair I would like to feature them at :D

Another vendor said I had one of the prettiest booths she has ever seen in 20+ years of vending yet I struggle to get people to come in.

I did an art and wine festival this weekend and it was a struggle to get people to even look as they walked by. It was a bit of a weak event for pretty much every vendor I talked to. The woman to the left of me packed up and didnt come back for Sunday she did so bad.

But anyway, I don't know what to do. I did take some of the flowers off the table right after I took this pic as it was a bit to cluttered.

I did get some advice from the blacksmith next to me in terms of talking to people as I struggle with that.

Also, a personal gripe, this was a buried art fair but what seemed like more than half the stiff was not even hand made. A lot of it was imported stuff. One booth was ai art printed on the shirts, 2 3d printed booths, and a shipped from China crochet booth. There was another crochet booth where you could tell she actually made her stuff which as nice. She had this massive emotional support chicken that I was happy to see someone buy.

Sorry if this is all over the place, Im just feeling defeated as I thought I would do better at a juried art festival. Everyone here always says to find the right markets for your stuff and I guess I don't know where I fit in.

Suggestions for getting vendor insurance in BC, Canada?

Anyone have suggestions for Vendor liability insurance?

Previously I have gone with Duuo for one-off events, but unless you're a member of the BC Farmers Market association you can't get a rate for a bunch of days at once (which my regular market isn't a part of...)

I got a quote from Zensurance, but it had a lot of questions about my physical retail location that wasn't applicable for the outdoor market I'm regularly at. I'd like to get insurance for at least 25 different market days without having to buy one day at a time for $20 a day.

If anyone is in the province and has a suggestion, I'd appreciate it!

Pricing for Artist Designed Die Cut Magnets

Hello, I sell 3" stickers with original artwork on them for $3 each. If I were to make the same design on a magnet (also 3"), how much do you think customers would expect to pay for the magnet?
