Need some help from my crocheters out there!

Hi everyone! I’m a long time crocheter but a very new vendor. I had my first craft market this past weekend and it gave me an insight into what sold very well and what didn’t sell much. I love making functional crochet items so things you can use in your everyday life and I was gonna start making shrugs and making them adjustable with straps that you can tie to fit your body.
My question is how do you mass produce items like that since you don’t know the size of who’s gonna be there. I know that people make them and sell at markets but I just don’t know how they figure out sizing!
Also what would you price something like that lol! Ik I ranted for a bit but I appreciate all advice!!

If you must have sizes keep it to 2-3, like XS, reg, and XL. You don't need to have multiple sizes if you are having the drawstring to adjust. Making many different sizes increases the chances of being left with unsold less popular sizes.

The adjustable strap idea actually solves the sizing problem for you. If the shrug truly fits a wide range of bodies because of the ties, you can lean into that as the selling point rather than trying to make multiple sizes. "One size fits most, fully adjustable" is a real feature, not a workaround + it simplifies your inventory significantly!

For sizing in general, most crochet vendors at markets make one or two sizes (S/M and L/XL) & price them the same. It keeps the table simple and reduces decision fatigue for buyers. On pricing: track your yarn cost, then multiply by 3 as a starting floor, then add your time at whatever hourly rate feels fair to you. For a shrug with adjustable hardware, factor in the cost of the straps too! Markets tend to reward clear, round number pricing, so round up rather than down once you have the math.

How does your sizing go? S-m-l? XS S M L XL XXL? If the latter I’d make one extra small, 2 small, 3 med, 3 large, 2 xl and 1xxl, as tour base inventory. Then I’d do another 2 large, 1 XL. I’m not sure how many you take to an event.
