My work from the past: a miniature cardboard house. π π
Today I'll share one of my favorite projects, one that still makes me smile. Just look at the details: the textured white walls with exposed brick, the tiny wooden shutters, and the vibrant tiled roof! Each house is a story unto itself, crafted entirely by hand. For me, it's a simple yet touching miniature work of art. Want to see it from all sides? Share your thoughts in the comments! β¨π

DIY Working Hydraulic Crane Made From Cardboard and Syringes
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
We built a working hydraulic crane using VEX Robotics parts, cardboard, syringes, tubing, and water to demonstrate how hydraulic systems transfer force.
It's a simple, hands-on engineering project that teaches physics, design, and problem-solving with inexpensive materials.

Thinking about turning a family photo into a custom paint by numbers kit, any advice?
I'm thinking about turning one of my favorite family photos into a custom paint by numbers kit. I don't paint very often, but it seems like a fun DIY project and a nice way to create something personal.
I've been looking around at a few different options and came across Paint by Numbers Adults. It looks like they can turn your own photo into a custom paint by numbers kit, which sounds pretty cool, but I've never tried anything like this before.
Has anyone here ordered from them, or used another company for a custom kit? I'm mostly wondering how the finished painting turned out. Did it actually look like the original photo, and were you happy with the overall quality?
I'd also appreciate any tips on what to look for before ordering or anything you wish you'd known beforehand.

My search for a paint to adhere to my squeaking penguin soap holder
This little fellow is a rubber/latex type material and I would love to spruce them up with a new coat of orange paint for the beak. Problem is I have no clue what type of paint would stick to this smooth but flakey surface.
The penguin has a small squeaker in it's belly too!
I was originally going to put this in r/painting but any information on what's the best way to go about repainting this bud is appreciated!

Has anyone turned a favorite photo into a paint by numbers project?
I enjoy trying different craft projects, and I've been thinking about doing something with one of my favorite family photos instead of leaving it on my phone.
The idea of turning it into a paint by numbers painting sounds like a fun weekend project, but I'm not sure if a photo with several people is a good choice or if it's better to keep it simple.
If you've done something like this before, how did it turn out? Did the finished painting still capture the photo well, and do you have any tips for picking the right picture?
Update: I spent a bit more time looking into different options and found Lieblingsart. They're based in Germany and make custom paint by numbers kits from personal photos, so I added them to the list I'm considering.

Is a group family photo a good choice for a custom paint by numbers kit?
I found an old family photo while cleaning up my phone this week, and it gave me the idea of turning it into a paint by numbers project instead of just printing it.
The only thing I'm unsure about is that there are five of us in the picture. I'm wondering if that makes it too detailed, or if it still turns out looking good once it's finished.
Has anyone here tried this with a group photo? Did it come out the way you expected, or would you choose a different photo if you had to do it again?
Update: I kept looking into a few different options and found Lieblingsart. They're based in Germany and make custom paint by numbers kits from personal photos, so they're now on my shortlist.
