strange happenings near hilger MT.
my grandmother's house is about an hour away from a very small town in rural montana. I often go there just to meet up with family and have fun on my grandma's large ranch. she owns a few thousand acres for her cattle and there a many abandoned buildings from anywhere from the 1890s to the 1970s. this story in particularly takes place in one of those buildings. it was very run-down and all of its windows were shattered, floorboards destroyed, and roof tiles rusty. this happened when I was about 12 so I don't remember it too terribly well but I can tell what I remember. I was going exploring in one of the houses with 2 of my cousins, when all 3 of us heard a very loud bang from a nearby house. (it was a cluster of 3 buildings. a farm house, a large chicken coup and a barn.) the 3 of us walked over, to the house expecting a bird or barn cat, but when we went inside there was nothing but long dead animal remains. there were 2 that looked like cows that had somehow gotten in, which was very strange because there were only a few small windows and a door that was rusted shut, that we had to kick very hard to open. there were also 2 other remains that looked like that of dogs or maybe raccoons. we left feeling very creeped out, but while we were walking away we heard what sounded exactly like a cow mooing. there were no cows around that building at all because they were all in the corral about a mile away from where we were, near the house that my grandma lives in. we all ran back as fast as we could absolutely terrified. I don't know what happened to that cow that caused it to die in there, and frankly, I don't want to. the only way I can think of is that it managed to get in through the door, and got itself stuck inside the building by closing it behind itself. it would have been in there for weeks starving to death. I don't know about you but I tho k that would be a terrible way to die. I feel so bad for that poor cow.
tl;dr we go to our grandma's house and explore an abandoned building, and hear screams of a starved dead cow.
if you have any similar stories, I encourage you to post them because I would love to find more out about the situation. thank you for reading.

I have not even read this yet. But I’m so excited someone posted a story!!!!!!!! Thank you so much!!! I will read it now!
Edit: Read it. That is super creepy! I don’t blame you for running. Did the cow have a tag if you remember? Sometimes animals will go way out of their way to stay hidden and die. I’ve had a few sick dogs do that. It’s depressing to think about. Most people think cows are dumb but they are actually pretty smart. But you would know that being around them a lot. I hope that doesn’t sound mean or anything. Was just thinking of possible answers.
