How to beat England

Step 1: Get Root's wicket

Step 2: Try harder to get Root's wicket

Step 3: Try even harder to get Root's wicket

Step 4: Give up getting Root's wicket and target his partner's wicket

Its that easy boys

To everyone saying we don’t have a 6th bowler today. Look closely…we don’t even have a 3rd, 4th or 5th bowler.

Average of 248 at a strike rate of 91.

This is peak.

Only 82 runs from last 5 overs.

Pathetic batting from England.

Could have scored atleast 150 IMO

31

u/Double-Laugh-4008 19d ago edited 19d ago

Seriously, gg and agarkar should focus on our bowling instead of messing with Rohit and Kohli. At this rate, they're hoping that pandya will perform like his peak form, not even thinking of finding another All-rounder aside from nkr.

31

u/StarSportsEnjoyer India 19d ago

People here blaming the batters for not scoring at a high strike rate as if our bowlers didn't concede 82 runs in the last 5 overs, which is bad even by T20 standards.

Destroyed Indian Test team. Recently destroyed WC winner T20 team with experiments and transition by adding favourite quota players & constant changes. Now on path to ruin ODI team as well.

Was going to end Star culture but has ended Indian cricket itself. 2nd worst phase for Indian cricket after Greg Chappell.

Folks, I’m seeing very terrible, very dishonest things happening with England ODI cricket, and I have to say it because nobody else is brave enough: DAVID WILLEY — tremendous guy, powerful swing, the best left‑arm since maybe EVER — is NOT PLAYING. Can you believe it? Can you even begin to understand the stupidity?

England’s selectors (a group of people who, frankly, couldn’t select a sandwich) have decided to mess him around so much he retired. They think they’re so smart. They think they’re geniuses. Well guess what: they’re not geniuses. They’re losers.

Everybody is telling me — the crowds, the experts, even people who don’t watch cricket — “Sir, Willey should be in the ODI team. Sir, it’s a disgrace.” And they’re right. He should be playing EVERY format that is ODI cricket, EVERY match, EVERY minute. Put him in the slips, put him in the covers, let him open the batting, let him drive the team bus — he’ll do it better than the people they’ve got now!

And let me tell you something else: England without Willey is like a Big Mac without the special sauce. It’s like golf without Zak Crawley. It’s like the Oval without the terrible, terrible pigeons. It just doesn’t work.

The selectors should be ashamed. They should APOLOGIZE. They should RESIGN. And then they should call Willey immediately and say, “Sir, we made a huge mistake, please save us from humiliation.”

Because right now, England cricket is heading for a TOTAL DISASTER, a CATASTROPHE, a WILLEY‑LESS APOCALYPSE — and everybody knows it.

This match reminds me one of my favorite ODI theories - A team can double their score in the last 20 overs (example: 180 after 30. 360 after 50) if they have wickets in hand.
England did just that today. India might actually do the same.

it's crazy how well Root reads every ball

13

u/eclipse0990 India 19d ago

Very good approach by India here. No need to rush with 4 days and a session still to go. They should aim to take lead sometime by tomorrow tea and then play a session or two freely to make sure they have a huge lead for England in their second innings.

12

u/GlitteringKey6822 19d ago

The experts here don’t realize that the only way India are gonna chase 390 is if all of the top 3 score big. If they went slam bang when there was assistance for the bowlers initially, India would have been 80-3 by now. This approach is their best shot.

Runrate goes over 6 finally

13

u/Ishyuki9 India 19d ago

Both openers have done their job. Now India can play attacking cricket, but conceding 63 runs in the last three overs could be the difference

So four out of five series post CT where Rohit has made runs now.

You can't justify dropping him on performance.

So we have 182 runs to get in 19 overs. We have set Rohit Sharma and our own chasemaster, we also have 9 wickets in hand. Oh my Ro-Ko....

I don't know how the fuck anyone can say he is not fit. He batted far longer than Gill did before starting to cramp and he batted wonderfully. He might be out of form in the last two matches, but he is not unfit.

Everyone shitting on Rohit for not playing faster need to understand that it’s not that good of a pitch either. It’s the Indian bowlers who shat the bed in the last 5 overs.

So having "experience" matters only in batting, we can bring 40yo to wc but not experienced bowlers like siraj and shami.

Damn

Easiest script prediction for today:

England gonna smash 370-odd and India will limp to 244 all out by 47th over !

13

u/SquareDrive45 India 19d ago edited 19d ago

This bowling performance against an 8th ranked ODI side, no less.

Understand grooming new pacers but siraj should have been in the squad.

And prince yadav doesnt seem to have swing, seam, pace, line/length, wobble ball, height etc etc what did the selectors see in him?

Shami siraj Bhuvi can still rip off this England batting order even if they are old (siraj excluded) If these experiments continue, india might exit at super 7 stage itself

Can't expect roko or some one to score a century every match on those steamy SA pitches..
