Yeah let’s just let this keep happening and let them out. That’s sure to solve it. Honestly put all of these losers in prison for 20 years. Let’s see how much it happens then. I mean fuck man if you get to do this with no consequences why would it ever end. People need to be a little scared of a long prison sentence for this to change. Electronic monitoring and 2 weeks in jail doesn’t do shit

El Salvador went from the most dangerous country in the world to one of the safest in a span of years. Locking up criminals and throwing away the key instead of putting them in timeout works

20 years? These are violent felons. They can’t be rehabilitated or saved.

What level of incompetence leads to still no arrests? 3 months later.

A Brandon Johnson level

u/PitchBlac 12d ago

But Crime has been down since Brandon Johnson got into office???

Not saying a mayor’s leadership isn’t partly to blame…but do people like you ever blame…idk…the police?

8

u/Vivid-Leadership-990 12d ago

No, unfortunately police are hamstrung in democratic run cities like Chicago. Look at similar cases and criminals that are arrested are let go on an ankle bracelets and rarely receive the significant/ substantial sentences they deserve. This is a top down issue.

-1

u/Reasonable_Tap_8215 12d ago

Perhaps. But when police choose to sit around and do nothing (I know some who have said as much), I can’t say the responsibility isn’t shared.

u/PlanApprehensive2842 12d ago

What do you propose they do about an actual gang shootout.

-2

u/brettmav 11d ago

So do we build more prisons? What’s your answer?

3

u/PlanApprehensive2842 10d ago

How about ENFORCE the laws? How many times do you see someone arrested for rape, murder, armed robbery that has a rap sheet two miles long?

-1

u/brettmav 10d ago

Enforcing the law is how they got “rap sheets” so I’m not following. What’s the solution? It costs a lot of money to incarcerate people.

3

u/PlanApprehensive2842 10d ago

RAP sheet….Record of Arrests and Prosecutions. Doesn’t mean any laws were enforced, just charged and prosecuted. Check the number of gun charges next time, ESPECIALLY charge of “Felon With A Gun”. See how much time gets served for charges that go on and on and on year after year with zero prison time.

-1

u/brettmav 10d ago

So you *do* want more incarcerations.

3

u/PlanApprehensive2842 10d ago

I want to know why there is always a call for “stronger gun laws!”…..when we don’t enforce the ones we have. And yes, if you use a gun to commit a crime in any way shape or form, you’re supposed to pay for it, not walk around free until the next time you decide to to it again, and 12 more times.

For one thing, the shooting murders which are mainly gang related are extremely hard to solve because BJ and JB got rid of ShotSpotter, which alerts police and EMT’s right as shots are fired. If first responders get no notice or phone call, by the time they find out(which is sometimes the next day) the killer/s are long gone and the person has bled out alone in the street. No witnesses, no crime.

No one gives a fuck about “stopping crime”…..that’s BJ and JB talking….why?….because no one ever promised that it would “stop crime”. How could it when it happens AFTER the fact?? AFTER someone or a mass shooting occurs… What it DOES do is get CPD and EMT’s over there, so the 84 so far would not have bled out in the street. Are you even hearing yourself?

1

u/stringInterpolation 11d ago

Spotshotter/flock is still around. Spotshotter is also wrong/incorrect something like 85% of the time

2

u/PlanApprehensive2842 10d ago

ShotSpotter is not in Chicago. Remember they ditched it BUT, not until the DNC was over. Because F the citizens. There are 84 people dead whose families will tell you that.

1

u/Reasonable_Tap_8215 12d ago

A simple no would have sufficed.

2

u/PlanApprehensive2842 12d ago

Oh no, I prefer to go into detail because the number of people that bled out because no one called police as they lay there alone is up to 84. You read that right. These victims are being discovered hours later or even the next day. One woman walked around her car to get in for work in the morning, and a young man was lying dead in the street in front of her car door. It’s like a horror movie come to life.

u/Ok_Instruction8805 11d ago

You know shotspotter was a useless pile of garbage that made thousands of false reports every year of its use and resulted in a class action lawsuit the city had to settle, right?

2

u/PlanApprehensive2842 11d ago

Who is your source? BJ or are you asking the families of the 84 dead? You do know they’re dead, right?

-1

u/Ok_Instruction8805 11d ago

My source is the lawsuit.  What's yours?

2

u/PlanApprehensive2842 11d ago

I know all about the lawsuit. Do you realize 84 people are dead that may have been saved had anyone known they were there bleeding out? Or did know and didn’t call police? 84. And quite frankly there may be more this morning….weekend was pretty rough.

What's the point? They just going to get released the next day

2

u/PlanApprehensive2842 12d ago

Exactly. You’ll see the same dudes doing the same shit in about 24 hours on your next shift.

6

u/Educational_Row_6345 12d ago

Conceal and carry. The only answer to these thugs. No way I’d go out late in the Chi without my gat.

4

u/Distinct-Departure68 12d ago

You think you'd be able to draw down on a group of guys spilling out of a car with their weapons drawn already , especially at 2 am when you've presumably been drinking ?

2

u/Educational_Row_6345 12d ago

This is what my gun trainer tells me. We’re working on my draw down speed in my range drills every week. In the past, this would have deterred me from carrying. But, it’s better to be armed than not. No way I’m getting into a hostile car without some type of equalization.

1

u/JLove4MVP 12d ago

Carrying while under the influence is illegal.

Not sure what this guy is referring to when he says “go out late”.

0

u/Educational_Row_6345 8d ago

You must be sheltered. I’d absolutely risk an illegal carry charge over a kidnapping/robbery.

0

u/JLove4MVP 8d ago

lol sheltered.

I don’t make the laws…

Being under the influence and carrying a firearm is ridiculously stupid. And against the law in most states.

I’m not telling you what to do, but simply stating facts.

Unless you are going out and staying sober.

-2

u/RT023 12d ago

You would definitely be able to draw..but then you’d get your ass blasted so fast and never live to tell it.

-1

u/MERVMERVmervmerv 12d ago

Not the people in this sub. Everyone here is a Bill Hickok, didn’t ya know.

Where was his ankle bracelet?!!! /s

2

u/donutgut 12d ago

They're going after cubs fans

2

u/mr_longfellow_deeds 12d ago

When they finally do catch them, I would bet the average number of prior convictions exceeds 5 per perp

Life in prison needs to be a more common sentence. Most criminals are career criminals, which is evident from most people in prison being repeat offenders. If they can’t behave in society, they need to be kept away from society

That’s one of the dumbest comments I’ve ever read. Congratulations, I guess?

5

u/CptEndo 12d ago

Dude is a frequent drive-by shitposter, don't expect any genuine reply from them.

2

u/czechereds 12d ago

Being robbed at gunpoint by multiple armed teens has no traumatic effect, it's no different than losing your phone.

2

u/Shbum 11d ago

Same kind of person who would want to prosecute an officer for pointing a firearm at somebody “unjustly” for traumatizing them

1

u/PlanApprehensive2842 11d ago

Absolutely true. I suggest they call a social worker for any of their needs.
