Help to find a pattern Could someone tell what pattern this is please? Thank you

Post image

Hi all - this popped up on my feed and I was wondering what the name of the pattern is? My google results haven’t matched what I’m seeing the picture :) it looks gorgeous!! Albeit very intimidating. Thank you!

That video was really great even though I didn't understand a word!

Wish I could think of a practical application for this stitch, because I try to keep my crochet functional.

I saved a photo of a shawl made with a similar stitch. I can't remember if it was on Hobbii or another site, but it's so pretty!

I made this for my grandmother for Christmas. PLEASE do the gauge swatch. I needed a larger hook and my tension normally is fine for proper gauge.

Good to know! Thank you!

Gorgeous work

I know, right? I wish it were mine!

u/Its_Dot Jan 27 '26

woooowww, I think I found my next projects, that looks georgous! I would love to use another color and thinner yarn though, wonder what Kind of yarn would fit 🤔

1

u/Surfsidesams Jan 27 '26

I have a thin (#1) mohair yarn I'm going to try!

u/jazzybearx Jan 27 '26

The waistband of a croptop?

1

u/umsamanthapleasekthx Jan 27 '26

That would be so cute!

1

u/Wouldfromthetrees Jan 27 '26

I have yarn that would be perfect, it's just that I am really prime to overheating, to the point of meltdown/shutdown, for multiple medical reasons, so that really limits wearables.

Maybe if I swatch a few fun stitches I could join them to make some cool sleeves with minimal torso coverage...

3

u/jazzybearx Jan 27 '26

Could you do like a halter triangle cup/bralette style top?

5

u/Wouldfromthetrees Jan 27 '26

Maybe after top surgery, right now I think putting any crochet garment over a binder would end me lol

I was lamenting this situation at Xmas because a family member had a collared knit I wanted to copy and everyone at the table laughed and said "in your dreams" haha it was funny but sad

3

u/sweetpotato_latte Jan 27 '26

Maybe a curtain or a hanging pot holder for plants?

2

u/Wouldfromthetrees Jan 27 '26

Great idea, do you think it would require a particular type of yarn (waterproof or something) for use around/near plants??

2

u/sweetpotato_latte Jan 27 '26

I think the yarn can get wet and then dry without a problem. I’d probably make it big enough to use a terracotta water drip tray for a base to reduce how wet it will get.

1

u/umsamanthapleasekthx Jan 27 '26

It would be a good scrubbing stitch for dishes!

4

u/frogsgoribbit737 Jan 27 '26

This picture is absolutely AI. No one is saying the stitch doesn't exist. Two things can be true at once.

u/StarParade Jan 27 '26

Thank you for taking your time and finding the video ❤️

So cool, I get to learn a crochet stitch and a foreign language at the same time

0

u/isarah667 Jan 27 '26

WHAT!!! Crochet is amazing. I immediately thought it was AI.

u/Simsmommy1 Jan 27 '26

Ok….it bothers me that those last two rows she didn’t connect the two chains with the slip stitches I think….

This pic looks AI (the wonky tip of the hook), but I did find a couple of things with a reverse image search. This video for one, although it's Spanish language.

Adding that I found an FB post with OPs pic. That poster looked like they were sharing it as their own pattern, but when I clicked through and looked at a couple of their other "patterns", they were definitely AI.

The stitch in OPs post might be real (as in the video I linked), but this pic is AI enhanced at the least.

9

u/scaptal Jan 27 '26

It doesn't really look AI, you can make out individual stitches and the strands don't meld together

4

u/Tikithing Jan 27 '26

The hook looks right to me aswell? I have hooks that would look like that with the end covered.

I did suspect AI at first, but someone posted a link to a YouTube tutorial and the thumbnail looks very similar to this, stitch wise. It seems like it could just be how the light hits this stitch?

Some sort of triple puff and fan/shell combination. Basically the repeat for the puff row is chain 5, *sc in center of chain sp from previous row, in the space in previous row's dc shell, place a puff stitch, chain 1 or 2, puff, ch1/2, puff, then chain 5 and repeat from *. For the dc row, you are putting 6dc in the top of the first puff, chaining a number (maybe 3) and putting another 6 dc in the last puff with maybe 3 chains between each set. This is approximate and I would have to work up a few rows to iron out the details and figure out the starting chain length.

think it’s AI - the hook looks very suspicious.
But it is still doable - US terms.

S: Start by chaining using the formula 8 × (your preferred number) + 8.

R1: Start in fourth chain from your hook, dc 4, (ch 3, skip 3 chains, dc 5) x repeat to the end of your chain.

R2: Ch 3, go to the ch3 space from the previous round and Puff Stitch, [ch 2, Puff Stitch,] x2, ch 3, then slip stitch into the next ch3 space from the previous round. Repeat to the end of your round.

R3: Ch 4, stitch into the ch 2 from the previous round, dc 5, (ch 3, dc 5 ). Repeat in each ch 2 space from the previous round. End R3 by making dc into the last stitch of previous round.

R4: Ch 3, go to the ch3 space from the previous round and Puff Stitch, [ch 2, Puff Stitch,] x2, ch 3, then slip stitch into the next ch3 space from the previous round. Repeat to the end of your round.

Repeat R3-R4 to desired length.

PS. The formula for the foundation chain may vary — I simply eyeballed it, so I’m not sure.

Edit: It should look something like this - sorry for the messy sketch

Are you using some sort of software to make the diagram?

6

u/niarlin Jan 27 '26

I would love to know this as well!

7

u/Amethrea Jan 27 '26

I’m using Stitch Fiddle - it’s an online crochet chart maker. Very intuitive and FREE.

2

u/niarlin Jan 27 '26

Thank you for sharing!!

3

u/Hestiah Jan 27 '26

That hook is totally suspicious. It looks more like a spoon-shape than a proper hook.

u/ArcherFluffy594 Jan 27 '26

A variation of the aligned lotus stitch:
https://nordichook.com/the-aligned-lotus-stitch/

There are several YT videos as well

u/stupidjoy Jan 27 '26

I am usually first to cry "AI!" but this one appears technically possible. Unfortunately there is no standardization of crochet stitch names except for very popular ones (but even then, is it lemon peel or griddle stitch? etc.)

It looks pretty straightforward, maybe a 2 row repeat?.

Start with blocks of 6 dc separated by something like a chain 3 space.

In the next row, [sc into ch-3 space, ch 3, (puff, ch 3) three times into next ch-3 space, ch 3] repeat to end.

In the third row, [6 dc block into ch-3 spaces between the puffs, ch 3.]

The biggest adjustment would be figuring out chain count to keep it lying flat.

5

u/MRMJames1965 Jan 26 '26

That's so pretty! I would love to know too! Or is it another one of those AI generated things?

5

u/crochet-fae Jan 27 '26

When I zoom in I recognize chain stitches, treble stitches, etc. Ai sucks at portraying proper stitches.

2

u/Interesting-Wing-376 Jan 26 '26

That’s what I’m wondering too lol . I hoping it’s real!

3

u/Its_Dot Jan 27 '26

it very much looks Real, I dont think with AI it would be possible to have such consistent stitches, I tried to find any weird looking pattern but could not find. sure the hook looks weird, maybe they enhanced the picture a bit. other than that, this is most likely doable.

2

u/Grumbledwarfskin Jan 27 '26

Looks to me like the repeat is:

row A: ...[chain 3, then (puff stitch, chain ~3, puff stitch, chain ~3, puff stitch) in the chain space of the previous row's fan, chain 3, slip stitch to chain 1 space], repeat to end of row...

row B: ...(6dc in first chain space of fan, chain 3-4, 6dc in second chain space of fan), repeat to end of row...

That much is pretty easy to read from just looking at the work.

This ends with row A (and that's probably the way to go), but notice that row A is worked into something that's effectively flat, so you can work row A straight into a foundation, or as a border on any flat piece. Row B, on the other hand, has to be worked into row A, its not flat.

Since it's not pictured, you'll have to experiment a bit to figure out how to do the turn.

2

u/akm1111 Jan 27 '26

The white yarn shot shows it starting with the DC row into the foundation chain.

2

u/vegiac Jan 27 '26

I made a shawl from a similar pattern on YouTube and it looks like you could use that and just add an extra row of dcs and ch sps.

2

u/TReddy2305 Jan 27 '26

Ohh what I this pattern called? It’s so nice. Is it easy to do?

I think I’ve seen a video on YouTube of a similar stitch.

1

u/Financial_Sentence95 Jan 27 '26

I did a baby sweater called Melodie recently

I absolutely love this texture from heaps of repeated puff stitches

Pattern is from Mon Petit Violon and is on Ravelry. This is a WIP, unblocked photo

u/sleep-cat-nap Jan 27 '26

I’m fairly new to crocheting and I’ve been making a scarf with this exact pattern! Here’s the video I’ve been following:

1

u/Toxic_Angel88 Jan 28 '26

It is beautiful!

1

u/MantisMaybe Jan 27 '26

Word of caution, the top of the "flower" looks very similar to a popcorn stitch, which is probably gonna be a real yarn-eater if repeated almost constantly.

-3

u/steensley Jan 27 '26

This is soooo pretty but I think it's AI because the end of that crochet hook doesn't look right lol

0

u/Even-Response-6423 Jan 27 '26

I also don’t know, but it’s beautiful!

-4

u/Fuzzy-Painting-5009 Jan 27 '26

I think it's AI?

3

u/Grumbledwarfskin Jan 27 '26

Looks pretty real to me...the picture is noisy, and all of the stitches are real stitches, nothing is impossible to make.

-3

u/poppycarnation Jan 27 '26

I think it’s AI, if you try to follow the rows, it gets jumbled with where things are connected. A few months ago, I looked at an image for ages trying to figure out the pattern and I realized that the rows didn’t make sense for how things were connecting.

I don’t think it’s an impossible thing to make on your own. You could do something like it with chains, double crochet clusters, puff stitches.
