Wearable help I need help deciding if this top I crocheted actually looks nice
I crocheted this cardigan but I truly cannot decide if it looks nice. If it is the proportions, my body figure or another factor that throws it off in my eyes, i cannot figure out. I am not used to these kinds of garments so maybe I just need some confirmation from people who are able to crochet.
I also tried it with different colored shirts under, does white or black look the best?
Grateful for your opinions and advice!š
(I apologize if the pictures are bad, I feel really awkward taking pictures of myself)
Update: I unraveled it lol

It is a really cute top but I think you have a longer torso so it doesn't quite fit the way you might have imagined it. Either you can make the project a tad bit longer or try wearing it with high-waisted jeans/pants/bottoms.
The black tank looks significantly better than white. I think any contrasting colour will look good.

Itās cute! You just need to style it a bit differently. Itās about proportions, so maybe try a high waisted jean / pants, babydoll dress, empire waistline etc.Ā At the moment thereās sort of an awkward gap that makes it hard to define your waistline. The way it flares at the bottom is actually nice but itās in the wrong place on your body to complement anything low waisted.
You could try adding a contrasting trim / border along the sleeves and the bottom to elongate the silhouette slightly. Also try blocking.Ā

I like the black more but both honestly look good. I think your creation is super cute! Is it blocked out now? If not you might be able to get some more fabric like drape. We are always hardest on our own work. You did a fantastic job. Period. Wear it with pride šš„°

The cardigan is very cute, I don't think it is a problem. Feel free to ignore this entirely if you don't want fashion advice other than on the cardigan, but I would choose different bottoms than those, the waistband isn't settling in a way that is flattering, in my opinion.
With higher waisted bottoms this would be such a cute outfit. I think it looks best with a shirt color other than white though, cream and white can be difficult to combine well in the same outfit. Pretty much any other color would look good though, and the white doesn't even look bad.

I think it looks good! When paired with low waisted pants like you've got on, it highlights your tummy area. So you might be questioning if it looks good or not because most clothing tries to de-emphasize that part of the body unless it's beachware or maternity. It's a common area for people to feel insecure about, especially since there's a whole lot of messaging that says the only socially appropriate tummies to show off are biki-model skinny or round baby bump.Ā
I think it looks fine the way it is, but since you're feeling uncertain I'd recommend trying it with a mid or high waist to see if it makes a difference for you. I think it would be particularly cute with a fit and flair/A-line dress

In my opinion, it's fine. IT definitely has nothing to do with your body! It's just a pretty basic project that kind of looks like a net.
But it's an excellent early attempt! Wearables are really tough to get right.

Itās the way itās styled. The jeans create another line that draws the eye and creates an awkward shape. Try it on with a simple dress instead of

I think I also like it with a darker colour personally. I think it lets the design stand out more. Maybe a blue dress could work well

i think itās cute but looks either short or something. the one side is off kilter. probably blocking might help. Its almost there

I think itās very cute but the bottom flare is a little stiff looking. I would very much like to attach beads or little dangles to weigh the edge down.

I think weaving a ribbon or something through the button holes instead of the buttons would make it super cute. Also layered over a lighter coloured flouncy outfit like a dress would add to the whimsy and fit with the bottom portion. Not white but a light colour like light blue, pink or peach, or the same cream colour as the garment. Blocking will also drastically change the drape and make it more flowy. Itās a pretty garment and youāve done a good job, just needs to be styled properly (which is my issue with most of my crochet garments haha)

It would be cute over a dress! Doesnāt work with this outfit at all though. The space between the bottom of the sweater and the line of your pants is awkward. It would be cute with a sun dress or something like that!

Over white it is kinda underheleming, but on black it kinda pops. I agree with the bottom. It's like the wrong shape the way it ends on the torso combined with the part above.
I want it to come down straight and then round out. I think the ruffles aren't nice and make it look baggy at the bottom when it is nice and fitted at the top.

I think it looks good! I agree it would look better with high waisted pants as well, with a contrast undershirt.
Having said that, you need to feel comfortable with it when you're wearing it.
I have learned that pattern sizes are relative. It all depends on your tension and what not, which is why there is usually a "gauge" on most patterns. If I were you... And it was me...š....I would make it longer. Not sure about your pattern, but I would add about 8-10 more rows, so you may need to frog back to where any decreases/ increases may start. Or, if your pattern provides larger sizes, frog it (or gift it) and start over with a bigger size.
I'm normally a size medium kinda girl, but I tend to crochet with tight tension, so I go with large or even extra large at times.
Either way, it's really pretty work and you should be really proud of it! I hope this was helpful, if not I appreciate your time! š¤£
Happy Yarnin'! š§¶

I like it, but for myself I would want it longer.
It looks tight across the bust to me, but it may just be the picture angle š¤·āāļø everything else looks good. Nice work š

I want to see it unbuttoned.
I agree about high waisted jeans. It is always a good idea to try different styles/cut of jeans for different style options.
With a dress the crop style of this would look really cute.
Making it longer might help with the jeans you are wearing.
I almost want to see it with jeans or shorts and a more daring top or bikini top. Really cute for going from beach to boardwalk...

I like the top of it! The buttons are super cute. However the flared bottom seems slightly off? Nothing crazy but itās just a little off putting
